art & resistance to Bush

Self-portrait -- Bushism in one hand, camera in the other.

Hi, I've just completed an online set of photo essays on protests of the Bush years. I concluded the project today with a set of photos & captions that was an experiment in rendering photos as you would for a graphic novel (as with the image above). But, outside of this experiment all the images, although presented with brief captions that tell a story, they are presented as real photographs. For example this triptych from "Team Cascadia" - the protests of the RNC from inside a radical affinity group

Families make up 40% of America’s homeless population.

Many of the images were posted here on DU immediately after the protests they depict. However, I invite you to visit and take a look back at a passionate and considered artistic response to the Bush years.

2. 100,000 homeless die/yr, from heat, cold, rat bites, hunger
heat is much in the news today..

Phoenix, i think it was 7 of the 8 dead were homeless.
No surprise to me.

The city fathers saw the forecast, and did not set up a cool shelter for them. What do you think of that?

{recall Chicago ten yrs back, when 700 died fm heat over a week or so? City Morgue Had to rent

FREEZER TRUCKS FOR THE SUDDEN PILE OF BODIES.

How interesting..

they cool you when you are dead, but not to keep you alive. Comments?}

And Baltimore, when another few hundred died in similar fashion?

3. welcome to Amerikkka
Proud to be a Canadian. Except I'm not Canadian yet. Maybe I'll take up citizenship there eventually. I'll probably die in one of Bush's Auschwitzes before then.
