What's the plan? What's the plan? Dems don't have a plan...
...and other bullshit spin from the R/W.

I keep hearing from the Puke side of things and from the Greens, Reds, Libertarians, blah blah blah the same shit the R/W has been spinning for years: The Democrats don't have a plan.

The R/W says simply: The Demos don't have a plan.

The Far Left wing says (despairingly), the pukes are terrible, but the Democrats don't have a plan.

The Libertarians, Greens, etc. say, The pukes are terrible, but the Democrats don't have a plan.

It is bullshit. The Democrats have a plan. They have a platform. It includes, but is not limited to the following:

On economics: Stop the growth of poverty by providing education and health care to the poor so that they can work their way into the middle and upper classes.

On Abortion: Provide education, birth control and opportunity to people so they will make the choices that don't lead to unwanted pregnancies; provide/encourage the adoption option and financial assistance to those who become (unwantedly) pregnant so that their children can make better choices. (Deflate the mythology that says the Republican Party is Pro-Life because they want to criminalize abortion and/or flip Roe v. Wade. The Republican Party does not want to flip Roe v. Wade, as evidenced by the appointment of a Justice (Roberts) that will not flip Roe.)

On the deficit: Increase revenues by stopping tax cuts that favor the uber-rich and the gigantic corporations. Cut unnecessary spending. Behave in a fiscally responsible way and stop lining up at the pork trough in Washington. Halt the cronyism of no-bid contracts to favored Republican contractors. Cut defense spending that is tied to the Iraq war by ending it.

On the war: Withdraw our troops from Iraq as soon as possible to stop destabilizing the country and stop wasting money.

On energy: Encourage the development of clean alternatives to Oil/Coal. Encourage conservation of energy and the development of hybrid vehicles, hydrogen cell vehicles and the like.

On the environment: Re-invigorate enforcement of the Clean Air Act and the Clean Water act.

These are just examples of the plan Democrats have. There are many other items in the Democratic Platform that make sense for America. Stop saying we don't have a plan, because it is bullshit. It is the same bullshit that says we don't have leaders, or that we're wimps, blah blah blah, whine whine whine.

All of the items in the platform may not appeal to you. Some of them may be repellent, even, to you. Some of the things I have mentioned above are disputed, even by our leading Democrats. I recognize this. But to say we "just don't have a plan" is "just bullshit".

1. Our Plan Is TO Conserve Government Agencies
and protect the people from corporate slavery. What plan is there when there is a corporate fascist coup? Retaliating to fight off the onslaught first.

The agenda for Liberals has always been there. We already have a plan. But we have been interrupted for the time being. Don't get caught up in the Right Wing spin.

16. Exactamundo.
Modern GOP logic is equivalent to me walking up to your house with a chainsaw, and starting to hack it down.

You: "Hey! knock it off!"

Me (being a neocon): "Shut up, you terrorist sympathizer! What's your plan?"

3. You're right!
I think it would be a miraculous turn of events if the Dems actually took the wheel back from the idiots and made A LOT OF NOISE WHILE THEY DO IT.

But... that won't happen.

4. We had a plan in place developed over years of government
cooperation.
The Plan was the United States Government.
The Plan, along with many career professionals that have dedicated their lives to the benefit of American citizens, has been discarded and replaced by crony incompetent goons who are systematically stealing our national resources for their personal gain.

5. That sounds like the platform we should have but it is not
In fact, there seems to be no consensus on many issues.
Gay marriage? Pulling out of Iraq (many Democrats seem to be in favor of sending MORE troops)?
Taxing the rich? Repealing CAFTA (which the Democrats just passed)?
Preventing the Palestinians from being disappeared? Repealing the bankruptcy bill the Democrats just passed? Single payer medical care?
How about let's stop the insurance and oil industries
from raping the American people - we can't even get a consensus on that.

Not only is there no clear platform:
I see a party that may be shattered beyond repair.

What have they done for YOU lately?
I count about thirty (maybe) members of Congress who look, talk
and act like the Democrats I know and love.

8. Let's get this "Democrats want to send MORE troops" thing resolved
Edited on Fri Sep-23-05 10:56 AM by emulatorloo
The Democrats who want to send more troops want to do so for one reason:

To get Iraq stable so we can get the HELL OUT.

Rummy and Bushboy tried to do it all on the cheap, and they have created CHAOS and DESTRUCTION for the average everyday Iraqi.

The argument is that BUSHBOY sent too few troops to:

Keep the country from being looted.
Adequately guard munition dumps from being looted.
Seal the borders from foreign terrorists.
Create adequate security so that the shit we blew up could get rebuilt (electricity, water etc)
etc.

The goal is to bring some semblance of normality for the average Iraqi and get out.

Is this the best strategy? I dont know -- it is probably too late for this work. But I tire of hearing it characterized as "Dems support Bush's War!" or other such nonsense.

9. I think you are an optimist
'Democrats' like Liberman definitely want more troops to widen this war.
Others might want to look tough on offense, others might be
getting pork from the war dollars.

Time for these troops to come home. The party plank should be: immediate withdrawl. And that should be lock-step and reflected in all
talking points and legislation.

Democrats appear weak and divided on this point because they are.

11. I would never say the Dems support Bush's war
They had/have their own reasons for supporting the invasion and occupation of soveriegn Iraq. Problem is, the time has come to RAGE! RAGE! against the dying of US troops. The time has come
to start working together, with each other and with the American people. Get mad and let them know 'we are mad and this will
stand no longer.'

12. That's a cop out!
You don't even know that posters politics!

I readily admit I'm a democratic socialist, which I am sure makes me fit in your "Far-Leftist" niche. But I hardly think I am running about expressing defeatism, far from it, I'm actively advocating a better solution for the people. I just happen to think a Congress full of Bernie Sanders' would be the best thing to ever happen to this Nation, or at least the people thereof.

10. Obvious response is
that we aren't the ones on power, either. Repubs got us into this mess; actually 'series of messes', and they want us to fix it. But, they want us to fix it under their auspices. Fuck 'em. Our plan is to get you idiots out of office, THEN we will fix this grand rat-fuck.
