Rove Visit No. 4 Spurs Speculation About Boss

Grand Jury Return On Plame Issue May Hurt Bush

October 15, 2005

By DAVID LIGHTMAN, Washington Bureau Chief WASHINGTON -- Karl Rove's fourth visit to a grand jury Friday detonated a fresh round of insider speculation on whether the Valerie Plame case will be the political bullet that wounds the already-staggering Bush administration beyond repair.

But Rove's testimony could trigger a more politically dangerous development for the White House: The public could start paying more attention.

If Rove or other top officials are indicted, that could create a new set of problems for a president whose popularity has plunged because of the war in Iraq, higher energy prices, his latest Supreme Court nomination and the administration's response to the summer's Gulf Coast hurricanes.

"There's a cumulative effect. Things are building up that cast a bad light on the administration," said Lance deHaven-Smith, professor of political science at Florida State University...

4. Ah the classic bush dilemma
Does he want to be remembered as criminal? Or simply incompetent? I'm with you - I think his choices are rapidly narrowing down to these two. Bwaahahahahaha.

5. He will be canned.
The pukes can no longer afford to have him around. Already the Governator is avoiding Bush on his Collifoonia visit. Most Senate pukes voted for the torture ban, despite Bush's promised veto. They are shunning him more every day. He'll be gone by August 2006.

3. "The public could start paying attention." Well then, it'd

7. It would be odd
wouldn't it be odd that 2 people who are so entwined like Bush and Rove would not share information about the leak? Would Rove keep such a secret?
