MIERS COULD BE POLITICAL MOLE IN COURT
As a Republican and George W. Bush supporter, I believe the president when he says he knows what's in Harriet Miers' heart, and for that reason I oppose her nomination to the Supreme Court. Miers is an ardent admirer of Bush too. She was a Texas lawyer who worked hard at being loyal in party politics to get where she is in life.

It is not judicial experience per se that is the issue; it is a lifetime of ambition. There are people like Harriet Miers who could have been a judge any time along the way if she were remotely interested. Instead, she diligently pursued a politically charged life.

My party's president, who owed his first election to a favorable Supreme Court ruling, should avoid any appearance of wanting a mole in the judicial branch, to the Supreme Court and all the courts below under its supervision. This is especially so at a time when the White House is under prosecutorial siege (presidential aide Karl Rove is in trouble) and could be perceived as benefiting greatly from having someone trustworthy in the right place.
