An interesting article on religion and politics
I'm still not sure if this article is pro-dem or pro-repug, but it is interesting none the less

"The "religious right" gets a lot of attention because a) to liberals, they are verrrrrrry scarrrrrry"

What a gem of journalism this one is. He's a condescending, mocking ass.

He also says that being a minority makes you a type of "extremist" (this is itself an extreme logical fallacy). Using his logic, there are no religious extremeists in places like Saudi Arabia. Idiot.

He says that secularists = atheists and agnostics. WRONG. Secularists believe that parts of socieity must remain religiously neutral. Most secularists in the US are, in fact, Christians. He doesn't know squat about the Religious Left, diffuse and disorganized as it is.

2. I'm still fighting with this guy's definition of "extremist"
Athiests and agnostics are extremists? I thought the point was to get away from religion, not be extremely involved in it.

3. An atheist would not vote for another athiest?
I find that hard to believe. There is so much bigotry against atheists in this country. It is very sad.

4. It's terrible propaganda
And he's comparing the belief systems of some people to the lack of belief for others. That makes no sense. Atheism isn't a belief system, but many atheists have a belief system... it's just not supernatural.

It's astounding that someone who works for something called "Beliefnet" can't identify or compare beliefs such as humanism.

Feh. This guy's a turd.
