Franken: Chavez should not be assassinated but Rove and Libby should

Newsbyus.com: Pat Robertson said that Venezuela’s Hugo Chavez should be assassinated. Robertson explained his proposition on the basis that Chavez is a ruthless dictator and anti-American.

Further, the televangelist went on to state that Chavez is too close to Iran’s despotic rule and Cuba’s communists.

With Robertson giving forth with such, Today’s TV Show expressed alarm. In fact, the telecast opened up with slamming Robertson’s low brow approach to assessing various ones of the human race. In other words, to NBC’s Matt Lauer in particular, Robertson was so out of place that he had to be disciplined in public and sent back to his corner. That was on August 23, 2005.

3. Hey, geniuses.
Al Franken describes himself as a comedian. Pat Robertson does not, though perhaps he should.

9. put another way: Franken's humor intentional. Pats...not so much
the dude probably makes more liberals laugh and cringe than AL Franken or anyone else because his comments often border on the insane.

But the man is serious. Can you imagine he was trying to run for president at one point? SCARRRRRYY.

7. hey. people know what HUMOR IS?
Pat Robertson is not known for his dry humor and sarcasm. We can assume he said it in all earnestness.

Franken has made a career out of writing humor that is often biting and in some cases using hyperbole to make a funny point.

Apparently, these hacks need someone to spell it out for them.

8. Franken didn't say they SHOULD be executed
but that they WOULD be executed.

That would make it a joke.

Pinheads.

12. And, he said he was absolutely opposed to executing
a sitting president. Could Pat say the same a few years ago?

11. The RWers will be all upset over Frankens comments
Edited on Thu Oct-27-05 09:12 PM by Bush in Berkeley
In fact, I know they already are. The difference is that Pat Robertson is supposed to be a CHRISTIAN leader and the owner of a major television corporation that broadcasts to millions of people everyday. He's also intimately intertwined with our political decision making now, so his words carry weight.

Meanwhile, Al Franken is a COMEDIAN!

Basically, Shut the F**k up you Freeper Trolls, it was a JOKE! Pat Robertson's comments however, most certainly were not!

13. Assassination is illegal
Excecution is not. Especially after being convicted of TREASON.

And comparing the comments of a comedian and a preacher? :eyes:

14. so they believe that assassination = legalized death penalty?
somehow, i thought that even "conservatives," perhaps especially "conservatives" might make a distinction between the two.
