Another Pat-thetic statement
“And the Lord did look with discontent upon the town of Dover in the province of Pennsylvania. For Dover was a wicked and prideful place and had turned its back on God. Its people had voted out school board members who tried to introduce intelligent design into schools as an alternative to the theory of evolution.

“And the Lord was wrathful and said, I will smite them with burning coals from the sky. Their fields I will make barren, their rivers I will cause to rise in flood, their football teams will lose, their sewers will back up, no one who lives there shall hit the Powerball. And I will help them not.”

OK, so that’s not in my Bible, either. But apparently, it’s in the Rev. Pat Robertson’s. Incensed at Dover voters for insisting that science classes teach science, he issued a dire warning to the town last week on his TV show, “The 700 Club.”

“If there is a disaster in your area,” he said, “don’t turn to God — you just rejected him from your city. And don’t wonder why he hasn’t helped you when problems begin, if they begin. I’m not saying they will, but if they do, just remember, you just voted God out of your city. ... Don’t ask for his help because he might not be there.”

1. Pat Robertson: Billionaire who never did an honest days work in his life!
Follow the money. Robertson is wealthy for the same reason as all organized religions...he uses guilt/anger/fear to manipulate people into giving him money. Christian religions are all about giving guilt and taking money - and Robertson is very good at it.

2. Why
Cannot we, as Democrats, come out in our national platform as being
against these crazy Christians?...everyone knows they are just blowing in the wind?? Let's have Howard Dean take them on.!!

3. You're absolutely correct! Robertson is a billionaire con artist
These billionaire TV evangelists have direct lines to the oval office. That should worry any swing voters enough to never vote for any repug.

Why have Democrats never exposed this unholy alliance? Good question. It's not like we'd drive millions are Robertson supporters into the republican party....they're already there.

5. Jimmy Carter...
...is more effective. He's a man well known for living a Christian life. He has gravitas. His current book tour is reminding Christians how a real person of faith behaves.

Dean's doing a good job too.
From Sunday's Meet the Press:

DEAN: I think Democrats always have to stand up and tell the truth and that's what we're doing. The truth is that the president misled America when he sent us to war. They did--he even didn't tell the truth in the speech he gave. First of all, think there were a lot of veterans were kind of upset that the president chose their day to make a partisan speech.

10. I beg to differ
Not all Christians are crazy. Most Christians are nice people who try to live by The Golden Rule and don't agree with insane comments or methods used by Robertson, Falwell, Moon, etc. To dismiss a large group of people because of the lunacy of their "leadership" isn't fair.

8. My LTTE in today's paper!
I want to publicly thank Pat Robertson. His recent Patwah against the citizens of Dover PA makes it clear that despite the denials of the Intelligent Design proponents, the issue of ID is, definitely, all about religion, and is creationism wearing a different hat.
