Donald Rumsfeld Is Mad As a Hatter
although I wanted to post this in LBN, I realized that news was so old that this is right forum.
http://www.alternet.org/waroniraq/29101/
Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld is mad. No, I mean seriously ill. Mentally ill. Demonstrably so.

I can't say whether or not he was mad from the start, but I can tell you with some degree of certainty that he is now. And he's getting worse. Each successive news conference he sounds more and more like the character, Dr. Charles Montague, who was head of "The Place for the Very, Very Nervous" in the 1977 Mel Brooks flick, High Anxiety.
Don got so nutty during his weekly news conference last week that Joint Chiefs head, General Pace, had to reel him in; not once, but twice. The first time was when Pace used the accepted term, "insurgents," to describe the indigenous fighters in Iraq.
snip
What on earth was he thinking? Actually, nothing new. Renaming fighters in Iraq has become a veritable hobby for Don. He's been re-branding the Iraqi fighters since the day we arrived there. Before the war even started he didn't even have a term for them because, he assured us, there would be no opposition to a U.S. attack on their country. But after Saddam was gone and U.S. troops started dying, Don told the same TV cameras to pay them no attention because, he said then, they were just a handful of "Dead-Enders" (D.E.'s).

As conditions in Rumsfeld's newly liberated Iraq deteriorated further, he renamed them again. No longer Dead Enders, they were now "Foreign Terrorist Fighters." And better yet, he said, they had been reduced to a rag-tag bunch that were "in their last throes."

Once Rumsfeld was done revealing his renaming epiphany he gave the microphone back to a clearly embarrassed General Pace. The general was faced with the choice of joining his boss in Looneyland, or using the now banned term, insurgents. Instead he said, Yeah, what he just said.

2. Bushco is a collection Psychiatric syndromes and pathological behavior.
They seem to attract it. I do not recall a cast of characters ever inhabiting a political office with as many quirks, scowls, disturbances, bruises, incoherent rambling, ticks, tantrums, misstatements, and down right criminal behavior. Well I am also too young to have ever witnessed the Third Reich in first person.

I would be even more scared if I knew what he was talking about.

4. You're right- -
But that term "mad as a hatter" struck me curious so I had to googled it. Origins of certain words, etc, quite often peak my curiousity. If anyone else is interested the definitions can be found at: http://www.worldwidewords.org/qa/qa-mad2.htm

So then I would say that makes his "good buddy" Bush a "stark, raving mad lunatic". I'm assuming everyone knows what a "good buddy" is in truckers slang.

6. Yes, this is absolutely true, and
thanks for posting.

I've noticed that RumsFailed has become more and more quirky and eccentric over the years. If you watch him in congressional hearings, you can absolutely tell something is seriously wrong with the man.

He holds up pretty well to start out with. Then, after about 30 or 40 minutes, he starts to get really edgy. His voice moves up to a higher pitch. He simply HATES to be questioned on anything he's done, or anything on his Iraq policy. He starts accusing others, and his hands which are always flailing around him, start to get threatening.

It's an amazing thing to watch. I've read about how he treated people when he was in the private sector. He fired people left and right. I've heard about his angry meltdowns. Before the war in Iraq started, some protesters took some children's clothing, and painted them with red paint and scattered them at one of his houses in Texas. I guess he was homicidal then.

I think people know he's unstable, so they tiptoe around him. What a jerk.

7. he has that barely container fury
aura, that squinting of his eyes. My father who was bi polar had that look alot. Surface charm and deadly evil barely under the skin. I look forward to his trial at the Hague.

8. Yes, how true.
He does squint a lot, especially during congressional hearings. The barely contained fury. Exactly right.

He's a really repulsive man. Out of the whole lot of them, this one is the worst. I even called the White House, about 3 years ago and yelled at them. I said, "Get rid of that man, TODAY!!!".

I couldn't believe I did that! I've never, ever done anything like that....usually a nice person.

But RumsFailed pushed me over the edge.
