Truthout has linked to an article entitled "Guantanamo, Fortress of the Absurd" by Philippe Gélie of Le Figaro.

http://www.truthout.org/docs_2006/022806C.shtml

While the article quotes General Jay Hood as saying no one is tortured anymore, and the "stress techniques" have been dropped, the article has this line, as part of its description of the cells:
"This little sitting room where 'interviews' take place also has anti-sound barriers on the walls, because 'it echoes a lot.'"

Now such "sitting rooms" don't prove that torture is still occurring, but they are clearly designed for torture - the soundproofing would serve to keep each prisoner's screams from being heard by others.

I also note this line: "...a civilian and military population that has quadrupled since 2002 (to 7,800)." For 500 prisoners! That's a huge number. Are they doing anything other than just guard duty and other activities related to the prison?
