White House Letter: Changing of the guard - in the East Wing
WASHINGTON Well, at least one part of the White House is heeding calls for new blood. Not only is the pastry chef quitting this week, a close look at the first lady's office shows that she has replaced her entire high command after five years in charge of the East Wing.

Laura Bush is now on her second chief of staff, Anita McBride. She is on her second projects and policy director, Sonya Medina. She is on her third press secretary, Susan Whitson. She is on her second social secretary, Lea Berman.

On the residence staff, she is on her second executive chef, Cristeta Comerford. Not least, she is on a search for her third pastry chef now that Thaddeus DuBois has made his last strawberry-rhubarb fool, the dessert at last week's dinner.

But it is also true that Bush fired her first chef, Walter Scheib 3rd, who said he had failed to satisfy the first lady's "stylistic requirements." It is also true that Bush's first social secretary, Cathy Fenton, after she left the White House, branded the East Wing environment as "volatile."

1. "volatile" - what is that suppose to mean?
It sounds like a PC way of saying someone is a nutjob.

2. Man, I miss the 90's. An affair and a lie - lie to avoid giving in to the
war machine that was the Republican Pary who was out to take him out. Instead, they had circus time with ring master, Ken Starr, and the people who funded the effort and the lock step support of the media, plus the FBI.

8. I try to look on the bright side.
While we taxpayers shelled out about $70 million for those investigations, there is no telling how much Scaife and the others in the VRWC spent cultivating that story. And what did they get? Clinton's license to practice law in Arkansas revoked temporarily?

Nobody else would have noticed, but unfortunately Roy Moore was a dinner guest that night.

7. This got me thinking about Hillary's book.....
Because of the number of people in the WH working nights, there are cooks working round the clock. Still Hillary had them install a small kitchen in their quarters and she would make at times "comfort food" there.

Somehow, King George and Queen Laura don't look like the type of people that would lower themselves to cooking anything.

Shiiit how hard it is being a "pastry chef" for the King and Queen... :grr:

the horrors...the pastry chef... Poor thing probably had cobwebs on her... The Bush family does not strike me as the "anything chef" type.. Did they impale her and let bears eat her?
