4. Sue those bastards for physical assault.
In addition to criminal charges which any decent DA should pursue - my god, you've got photos!, your friend can file a civil action. We gotta put the fear of punishment in these goons and their payrollers now, cause they'll only get worse as campaigns progress! I write these words as a former trial lawyer - not some "civilian" who doesn't know when a suit is possible.

6. This has EVERYTHING to do with the Governor not calling a special
election unless DeLay bails NOW, I suspect. They're trying to trash the guy and keep the base somehow motivated.

SUGAR LAND, Texas (Reuters) - A special election to replace U.S. Rep. Tom DeLay will be held in November -- on the same day as the regular election -- unless DeLay resigns this week, Texas Gov. Rick Perry said on Thursday.

The scandal-plagued DeLay, former House majority leader, said this week he was quitting Congress, but would not leave until June because of unfinished legislative business.

Perry told reporters in Austin that if DeLay does not notify him by Friday that he has quit, "the election will be in November."

Democrat Nick Lampson, who is running for DeLay's seat, said in a raucous press conference on Thursday DeLay should resign immediately so a special election can be held at the earliest possible date -- May 13 in this case -- to choose his successor....

This is what makes terrorists, of whatever degree ... the certain knowledge that whatever they may do, their cause is already lost ... the only "victory" they can win now is to bloody their opponents. Those who are satisfied to take empty revenge are the lowest that humanity can produce.
