Dick Morris: Foley scandal is the nail in the GOP coffin
The Toe sucker finally got something right

The Hill
The Newspaper
for and about
the U.S. Congress

"In a curious way, the former Rep. Mark Foley (R-Fla.) scandal will be to the Republican congressional leadership what the Monica Lewinsky imbroglio was to the Clinton presidency.

After all the boring scandals — Whitewater, Hillary’s investments, Paula Jones, Travelgate, the FBI files, the Rose Law Firm’s billing records — the Lewinsky scandal seared into everyone’s consciousness. Those who failed to read the many volumes of Whitewater documents published by The Wall Street Journal or who despaired of following the paper trail that led to the Travel Office firings could easily grasp the simple facts of Clinton’s dalliance with Monica. Nothing complicated. Nothing subtle. Easy to understand. And so the Clintonian penchant for scandal became universally known and has been an enduring part of his legacy."

1. I do not believe ANYTHING that guy puts out...
not even this. I sure don't believe the GOP is going to it's grave. Lose control of the House, maybe, but that isn't a done deal. We still must GOTV in order to get our candidates into office.

4. I disagree - I have read what he has said a number of times and
find he has a lot of political savy and looks at thinks from a unique angle, even though he is bent toward hyperbole.

Hold your nose, temporarily forget everything else creepy and negative about him and that he seems to really hate the Clintons now, and read some of the stuff he's written.

I think what was most interesting, a while back, was his prediction that there would be 3 very viable candidates in 08. A Dem, A Repuke, and Newt. Newt will be the "Take back the Republican Party" candidate. And, if this happened the electorate would be divided in 3rds. I think, that when we take back congress, Repukes could split - and I know Newt is definitely waiting in the wings. This whole sex scandal could add fuel to his fire.

2. wasn't the impeachment actually based on him saying a door was open when it
was closed.. perjury ..and not because he did anything wrong.. the 'id did not have sex with that woman', was actually true based on the courts definition of sex which didn not include oral activity.. but he was said to have lied about the door being open.
