Gingrich speaks out against Iraq policy
This seems pretty significant:

NEW YORK, Dec. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- In an exclusive interview with Newsweek, former House speaker Newt Gingrich, a quiet confidant of Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, says the U.S. went "off a cliff in Iraq." In the December 15 issue (on newsstands Monday, Dec. 8), Gingrich talks about the shortcomings of the Bush administration's policy in Iraq, saying that "Americans can't win in Iraq. Only Iraqis can win in Iraq."

9. Moldy conspiracy theory
I remain convinced that the Clinton impeachment was Newt's
step one. Step two would have been to stop Gore from
appointing a VP, and then impeach and remove him. Voila,
President Newt Gingrich, January 2000.

10. Not moldy, is pertinent
Newt played sneaky poker, showed false signs

got caught, people called his hand which had zero

lost the ALL IN bet. Had to leave(resign) the table.

Tah tah

2. I had to chuckle at
the phrase "gimme-stuff socialism."

He's right that Sharpton is far-and-away the best orator the Left has. I'd rather listen to Sharpton ad-lib for eight hours than most elected Democrats giving The Performance of a Lifetime for 30 minutes. I'm pretty sure that irritates the hell out of the establishment, but the truth is the truth.

Sharpton needs a slot in Boston. I'll be pissed if he doesn't get one.

3. I have no idea where Newt's morals come from, but, I think he has just
left the company of a junkyard dog.

Apologies to all junk yard dogs.

4. Newt has a terrible history...
but he is definetly taking a step in the right direction. I don't know how large that step is, though.

5. As John Kerry said....
...who thought, when it came to Iraq, Bush would fuck up so badly?

7. Ummm...who knew? How about the millions who demonstrated

in the streets here and all over the world? How about the avalanche of phone calls and emails sent to the Congress to stop them from backing the Bush's war? Apparently Kerry is the last to know.

8. Gingrich speaks ...
... and I'm not listening.

There are some real conservatives out there who have criticised the war or the postwar fiasco -- RWers like Buchanan who I strongly disagree with on most issues but who at least aren't whores for the Repuke power elite -- who sometimes write lucid and compelling arguments ...

... but old Newt could start spouting the platform of Dennis Kucinich and I wouldn't give a shit.

Some politicos are worthy of honest disagreement, but others have forfeited all credibility and are not to be trusted or credited under any circumstances.

And when they say something I agree with it has as much significance as saying that water is wet.

12. Allow me to play devil's advocate for a moment ....
"The former speaker indicates it would be a huge mistake for American troops to leave Iraq by next November's election, a rumor that has been circulating in the Pentagon. The only "exit strategy," says Gingrich, "is victory." But not by brute American force. "We are not the enforcers. We are the reinforcers," says Gingrich. "The distinction between these two words is central to the next year in Iraq.""

I know this is a heretical thought around here, but seriously, is he really wrong about that? I mean, I fully agree that the troops never should have been there in the first place. But what benefit does America gain, beyond making Bush look weak and foolish and thus weakening him politically, from an abrupt departure which is destined to result the reign of chaos in Iraq? (And you know it would)
