Bush signs executive order on pay raises --AP
http://www.kansascity.com/mld/kansascity/news/politics/16293629.htm

WASHINGTON - President Bush signed an executive order Thursday to raise the pay of federal workers, members of Congress and Vice President Dick Cheney in the new year.

Congress passed the pay raises earlier this year, but Bush was required to sign an executive order to enforce them.

The president's annual salary of $400,000 is not affected by the legislation.

The size of the pay raises was based on a formula in federal law that takes into account cost-of-living changes.

keeping the rich richer at the expense of ALMOST EVERYONE ELSE, THEY deserve raises and ANYTHING else 'WE' can do to make their lives better. What a great country; total and complete incompetence is rewarded with pay raises

5. I hope not to get flamed over this
Didn't Rep. Pelosi say that the dems. would not take a pay raise without the minimum wage raise?

6. That's a different raise I think
The scumbags that run the country have it built into their system that they get 2 or 3 "cost of living" raises a year so it doesn't look so bad to those of us that barely get one or maybe none at all.

7. Members of Congress--most people, in fact--
are free to reject pay raises, even if the raises are authorized.

Some reject them.

(Actually, when I was a teenager my girlfriend's father, a steel mill worker, rejected a pay raise.)

8. The real story, class warfare. Raises for the elite, but no raise for the poor.
Kick.
