DEMOCRATS' DILEMMA: Back on the Table? by Stephen Fleischman -- January 21, 2007

"Impeachment is off the table," said newly elected Democratic Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, to reporter Leslie Stahl, on a Sixty Minutes broadcast.

Will the American people make George W. Bush pay the price for his war crimes in Iraq? We all know there is a barrel full of "high crimes and misdemeanors" that would make impeachment very constitutional.

After Bush's recent "surge" speech (21,500 more troops for Iraq), there has been a groundswell of opinion to get impeachment back on the table. Nancy is now pawing the ground when asked if she's changed her mind on the subject. She says she supports Congressional investigations into such areas as intelligence failures and Halliburton contracts but is still waffling on impeachment.

Will George W. Bush pay the price? I think not.
