What does everyone think of this? I think multiple parties are needed in this country very badly. We live in a two party semi-democracy. I support certain Dems but I have absolutely no problem voting third party. I don't consider myself a robot to any one group.

1. the rise of the green party is reaction to the rightward drift of the dems
for many, the mantra 'my party right or wrong' just doesn't work anymore.

after watching progressive movements come to a standstill or even retreat during the last 20 years with no help, nay even complicity from the dem party, it's hard to blame them for seeking alternatives.

2. Good news? Depends
I have resigned a forty year membership in the democratic party, but have not (as yet) registered Green.I agree with the sentiment expressed that this rise in Green staus is a direct result of the exposure of the democrats as just as enmeshed in the stink of politics as are the republicans.

We are in a unique point in american political history, with moderates of BOTH major parties increasingly uncomfortable with both their leadership and the direction of their respective parties.I am about ready to wretch when I hear that silly ABB mantra as it does nothing at all to address the ills of our democracy........
