Toronto Sun: Dog Days for George Bush

As Murphy, our Jack Russell terrier, enters her 15th year of life, she increasingly is mindful of George Bush, now into the last quarter of his term as U.S. president.

Or maybe it's vice-versa -- with Bush's attitude mindful of Murphy's.

I've written in the past about my dogs -- a succession of six Jack Russells over 30-plus years -- and posed the view that if governments (especially the docile Canadian one) showed more of the spirit of JRs, they'd have more respect in the world and less trouble in foreign relations.

As a breed, Jack Russells tend to think they're 10-feet tall. They don't look for trouble but neither do they back away from it.

They aren't pushed around by bigger dogs, because they are neither fearful nor subservient.

It seems to me that's not a bad formula for countries to live by. ....(more)
