Losing The Next Election

By Mark Goldman

I believe the Democrats are days, hours, or maybe even minutes away from losing the next presidential election.

Very soon a Republican is going to enter articles of impeachment against Bush and Cheney and other Republicans are going to jump on the band wagon before the Democrats understand what has happened to them. Republicans no longer need Bush and Cheney. These guys couldn't have done a better job while appearing totally incompetent.

They've accomplished so much: The Constitution has been defanged of civil protections, Iraq's Oil has been converted to US control, the treasury has been wiped clean (allowing unwanted social programs now to be put to rest), tax legislation to benefit the rich is working as planned.

All the ill feeling that was engendered along the way resides with the guys in the White House. All that needs to be done is to dump them and whoever does it will win the next election. The Democrats are too afraid to do it. The Republicans know which side of their bread is buttered.

Some people say there have been no polls dealing with impeachment, but there have been polls. They just haven't been published. When the numbers are right--and they are probably right on target as I speak--Bush and his gang will be thrown overboard.

Bush and Cheney will retire in comfort with the quiet praise of their party. They will be pardoned by the next Republican President so that neither one will pay a price for their treason, and Republicans will continue their march. The public will be left believing that it was Republicans who saved us all from disaster. After all, they protected the homeland from any additional terrorist attacks; they saved us from the economic ravages that might have resulted had we run out of oil, for with Iraq under our control we won't run out of oil anytime soon. And they threw out the incompetents when it finally became clear that the White House was leading us astray.

Not a bad perspective if your a Republican.

Anyone want to place a bet?

6. I agree. This isn't the 70's.
This crop of thugs isn't even remotely evolved from the republican party of thirty years ago. (He's alluding to Nixon being "dumped overboard" by Goldwater and the rest of the republican party back then.)

In fact, this isn't a political party at all. Today, what we refer to as "the republican party" is nothing more than a large criminal enterprise. You won't see any "dumping" going on here. I'm sure the white house has nice juicy thick dossiers bulging with NSA wiretaps on any holdovers that are still around (as well as more anthrax,) lest they "get any ideas."

3. But he fails to realize how strong party loyalty is among repukes.
These are people who put party loyalty above the Constitution and the country. To them loyalty to their party and king is more important than ethics, legality, religion and truth. Their only uniting philosophy is repukes, no matter how criminal and evil they are, must be supported. The corporate media would attack the first repuke to turn on their master and the criminals would start hunting for them. The turn-coat repuke would be lucky if they survived a week.

5. they've got a carrion necktie!
the republicans are in a situation like when a farmer finds his favorite dog suddenly killing the chickens! so the farmer ties a dead chicken to his dog's nack and leave it there to rot....after a few weeks, the poor dog is sick of chicken, sick of the sight of, the very IDEA of chicken! lol
we're the farmer. the repukes are the dog, and the chicken rotting on their neck is junyer bush and phony rightwing 'conservative' ideology (win at all cost)....the stench of maggot dripping carrion (aka foxnews) will choke them filthy bastards, turn the stomicks at dinner and ruin all their nights with their fat young boys etc....lol!
fukkem

4. You must be high.
Pugs will not impeach one of their own.

They will attempt to be the "party that can fix the problems created by bush" but that will be the extent of it. The real battle is the propaganda war to see if the RNC can distance itself from the current executive branch and congressional scandals. Delay and Gingrich trying to make come backs doesn't help the cause very much.

The way I see it, the pugs only chance of winning the next round of elections is if the Democrats blow it... which is about an even bet.

No one, and I mean absolutely no one thought Bush could beat Gore, but Gore proved them wrong. Could happen again in 2008.

7. an intriguing idea
but I too don't see the Republicans acting on it. If they did, it would definitely leave the Dems with a very eggy face.
