Peace Movement Disappointed With Democrats' Funding for War
Source: Oped News

Last week, the House of Representatives passed the "Iraq Accountability Act" giving the President an additional $100 billion to continue the US occupation and associated military operations in Iraq. While this binding measure establishes a deadline for the removal of most combat troops by August 31, 2008, the conditions set forth in the bill fall far short of where Congress should be on their path to bringing the troops home. CODEPINK believes that not one more dollar should be appropriated for continued war and occupation, and will continue to push the position that Congress should only fund the safe, orderly and rapid withdrawal of all troops by the end of this year.

4. Yeah, I'm disappointed in the Democrats, but . . .
Words cannot effectively capture my complete loathing of their Republican predecessors and their ongoing initiation, support and funding of this illegal war. The Democrats are trying to rein in an out of control situation and I'm disappointed in their efforts thus far, but the folks who caused it to go out of control in the first place are my true subject of scorn.

5. Codepink goes to OpEd News to blow their own bugle and promote themselves
OpEd News--I have seen some absolute crap on that site. In particular, they allowed an antagonist to tear down my favorite Senate candidate late in the campaign. OpEd News does not have a deep well of content providers to draw on; as for editing or style, they are hardly the best of the 'net.

6. Welcome CODEPINK....
I keep saying this hoping it would become a talking point...

We will fund the safe return of our troops and nothing else!!

I don't understand why our democratic leaders aren't talking more about how Bush was sending our troops to Iraq WHILE the Congress was WARNING him that the surge wouldn't be funded.

I think bush's actions are the same of a thug. He put our troops in harms way and then he says pay up or they'll die. ...Dems are letting bushCo get away with murder.
