A Heads Up: Impeaching Mister Bush and Cheney, the People Are Way Ahead of the Politicians
A. Alexander, April 22nd, 2007

snip//

Goodness knows the Congressional Democrats are trying to be rational and patient people, and heaven knows that can't be easy when being forced to deal with a perpetual two-year-old like Mister Bush. The Democrats want to "teach" Mister Bush "a lesson" and try and cajole him into believing Congress is a constitutionally designated co-equal branch of government. They are probably even half expecting Mister Bush to wake up one day and, as if struck by a bolt of lightning, recognize the error of his ways.

Here is the problem: It isn't ever going to happen! And, if the attorney scandal should prove anything to Democrats, it is that there is nothing they can do to alter Mister Bush's disastrous and criminal course. How many times has the nation's attorney general perjured himself? Mister Bush doesn't care...Gonzales doesn't care. They consider themselves above the law. They don't care if Congress or the people know they're criminals or, as Cheney's recent Iraq-9/11-al Qaeda comments prove, that they lied the nation to war.

THE CABAL DOESN'T CARE! THE CABAL ISN'T GOING TO ALTER THEIR BEHAVIOR! THE CABAL IS DESTROYING THE CONSTITUTION AND OUR DEMOCRACY...AND THEY DON'T CARE THAT THE PEOPLE AND CONGRESS KNOW WHAT THEY'RE DOING!!!

So, here it is Democrats...the people and especially those "other" people are way ahead of you, again. This time, however, we're givin' ya'll a heads up on this one...there is only one solution: IMPEACH! IMPEACH! IMPEACH! Do not wait. Do not stall. Do not even pass go or collect $200.00. IMPEACH George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, and Alberto Gonzales. Then, arrest Karl Rove. DO IT NOW! The nation's Constitution, democracy and survival depends upon it.

3. I'm sick of being told 'no'; how bad does it have to get? Will we
have to put up with another 1.5 years of this? As DUer calimary said, think of the damage they can do in that amount of time.

6. They will continue on their course, the damage will continue.
I think what calimary says is quite obvious, sad to say, truth to tell. God help us all. We can not become as the poster below says, become one of them. We can, however, prevail with good honor. I believe that. But it takes great courage and, more yet, great focus. We can do this.

4. But, if "the people" were not calling for impeachment now,
then there would still be multitudes here calling for impeachment with the attitude of "what do the people know". We need to watch out that we do not become that which we hate. I have seen far too many comments and suggestions here where the ends would justify the means. Yes, in this case "the people" are applauded because they agree with what many of us desire to happen, but if that were not the case would we have the paternalistic attitude of "we know what's best".

7. Excuse me, but the bottom line for me is that this is a criminal bunch
of murderous crooks who have raped our country financially, are 'still' killing our soldiers and the people we have illegally occupied, started a war under false pretenses, and a host of other issues, like raping our Constitution, taking away our liberties, and that's NOT ENOUGH? IT's enough for me.

9. I am not sure where I said or implied that's not enough?
If it is right, it is right no matter how many support it. But it is more convenient if the people support it. How many of "the people" even know who the vice president is? If you are going to do it, do it, but don't use "the people" as justification if you would do it anyways. But if you had absolute power to do anything you wanted to do to right the wrongs, to what lengths would you go? What means, legal, illegal, or extra legal would you use and feel justified because after all, you are right? My point is that if you are not careful you will become what you hate and that hate will consume you.

10. I see. I'm right, but there's is nothing we can really do about it.
Now you're probably right, and that's disheartening.
I might be a 'tad' too idealistic or optimistic; I always hope for the best, but rarely see it.
Thanks, elocs.

11. I believe in preparing for the worst and if something better happens I can be pleasantly surprised.
There may not be much to be done, but do what you can do if you believe you are right. I just don't want to become like those who I fight against. Sometimes life surprises you, but for those who believe in it we are on the wrong side of heaven to expect perfection.

5. Regrettably, Congress and Bushco ALL sleep together.
That's why we're seeing nothing in the way of real change. They're all whores, but ironically enough we're the ones getting fucked!

Impeach the Bastards!

8. Do-It-Yourself Impeachment..."Jefferson's Manual"
Impeach bush yourself. In response to Kucinich's pursuing of Cheney, Impeach for Peace has created a new DIY Impeachment. This one is directed at Cheney. We have researched a method for impeaching the President and Vice President using a little known and rarely used part of the Rules of the House of Representatives ("Jefferson’s Manual"). This document actually empowers individual citizens to initiate the impeachment process themselves.

"Jefferson's Manual" is an interpretive guide to parliamentary procedure, and is included (along with the Constitution) in the bound volumes of the Rules of the House of Representatives. It is ratified by each congress (including the current one), and has been updated continuously through the history of our democracy. The section covering impeachment lists the acceptable vehicles for bringing impeachment motions to the floor of the House.

Before the House Judiciary Committee can put together the Articles of Impeachment, someone must initiate the impeachment procedure. Most often, this occurs when members of the House pass a resolution. Another method outlined in the manual, however, is for individual citizens to submit a memorial for impeachment.

After learning this information, Minnesotan and
Impeach for Peace member (Jodin Morey) found precedent in an 1826 memorial by Luke Edward Lawless which had been successful in initiating the impeachment of Federal Judge James H. Peck. Impeach for Peace then used this as a template for their "Do-It-Yourself Impeachment." Now any citizen can download the DIY Impeachment Memorial and submit it, making it possible for Americans to do what our representatives have been unwilling to do. The idea is for so many people to submit the Memorial that it cannot be ignored.
