The Misdeed Is Done: Let Them Hear from You!
May 25, 2007 By Matthew Rothschild
And so the misdeed is done, shamefully hustled through by Steny Hoyer and by Rahm Emanuel and by Harry Reid.

The discouragingly lopsided vote on the funding of the Iraq War, 280-142 in the House, and 80-14 in the Senate, shows the Dems at their most cynical and spineless.

Spineless because they wouldn’t stand up to Bush and they wouldn’t face down the attack ads to come.

Cynical because, when Bush came to shove, they let him get what he wanted so they could say later, like in November 2008, it’s all on him and his Republican cohorts and thereby win more seats.

Democratic calculators like Hoyer and Emanuel figure that the war is going to sink the Republicans in ’08, so it’s just fine by them if the war keeps going on.

Even if it’s killing 100 U.S. soldiers a month and wounding 700 more.

That is the essence of immorality. You cannot get lower than that.

For those of us who feel abandoned and dejected today, we need to redouble our efforts. .....(more)
