Insane, rambling, incoherent letter in local paper.
Edited on Sun Jan-04-04 05:07 PM by McDiggy
Franklin Delano Roosevelt, the physically-challenged, under Communistic terms, or cripple, in American English, was a virtual dictator for 12 years with his Communist-filled administration.

This and other bizzare musings:

It made me laugh for about 45 minutes straight. How is this PUBLISHED in a newspaper?

1. I read the word "cripple" and stopped right there
I don't want to read the rest. People who think in such terms really set my teeth on edge. Compassionate conservatism? Yeah, right.

3. Trust me on this:
The person who wrote this has a time and space challenge that leads me to believe that there is an underlying mental issue there.

Google "Word Salad" sometime. Because that is just about what that letter is. A word salad.

4. Yes. agree. I find it hard to believe the writer is not mentally ill.
How COULD the editor have published this?

5. Well, to be fair....
Parkersburg, WV is an Ann Coulter reading, 80% Bush voting, unbelievably conservative area. I'm sure the editor published it because it's what the readers want. There is usually one of these published a month in this rag of a newspaper.

9. I was on page four
of that google search before I got anything useful.

The phrase is just too evocative for people to have left it alone.

6. Dear Editor:
Sent this to the editorial staff:

"I happened upon your paper's web site and read Harry Fletchers demented rambling rant in your letter's section. Why in the name of all that is decent would you publish something like this? Do you publish pictures of the disfigured and disabled in your rag, just for giggles? To draw attention to someone as obviously insane as Mr. Fletcher is just as odious. Mr. Fletcher obviously can't stop the voices in his head, but you should be able to stop yourself from humiliating him by publishing them."

Unless of course you share his delusional system....

Here's what I'm sending:

Good Day,

I would like to thank you for publishing Mr. Fletcher's bizzare, rambling, incoherent, word salad of a rant in this Sunday's Parkersburg News. It gave me the opportunity to show people all over the world just how insane some of the people in my hometown are. What I must ask is why in the devil would you publish such an unintelligible diatribe? Do you publish pictures of the disfigured and disabled in your paper just for giggles? To draw attention to someone with a case of residual schizophrenia such as Mr. Fletcher is just as odious. Mr. Fletcher obviously can't stop the voices in his head, but you should be able to stop yourself from humiliating him by publishing them.

Respectfully,
Michael Frazier - Parkersburg

Im trying to make this funny and condescending without offending too greatly - any further suggestions?

If you want to send in your own:

12. wow. makes me think of the time-cube guy.
that is far past rabid right - wow. so we refused to help communist fighting france in Vietnam - and instead handed vietnam over to the communists and helped them rebuild it. Guess losing all those GIs in the war, and participating in a long and bloody war which left Vietnam in very poor shape - is now "rebuilding".

Hey - maybe this guy is a speech writer for *?
