The Bird Brain Flu

The Bird Brain Flu

********************************************************************
The Bush/Republican virus is stupidity. We have been so focused on corporate greed and religious righteousness, that we have missed this more fundamental variable.

And when the stupid take over government, it's only because the slightly less stupid let them do it, so shame on us.

Stupidity is the God Almighty of the Republican Party. The proof is simple: Anyone who knowingly fouls our planetary nest for religion or money is a bird brain -- and it's meaningless to try to moralize or reason with a bird brain.

This all becomes diamond clear when you look at the Bush party line about science and nature.

Take the hurricane Katrina. Big surprise, right? Only for bird brains! It was as predictable as death. The planet is catastrophically metamorphosing as we speak. Climate changes that used to take thousands of years are now happening in ten. Ozone holes are yawning away our protection from cancer causing radiation. And at exactly the same moment we might have a small chance of saving ourselves (and our descendants) from the murderous environmental side effects of burning fossil fuels, Texas energy companies are gang banging Mother Nature.

And on and on and on . . .

But none of this computes for the "intellectually challenged", that's just the problem.

Another example: Imagine what's going on neurologically for people who actually expect the universe to go up in a cloud of Armageddon smoke next week! Try to imagine the EEG's that go with that delusion. Pretty flat, wouldn't you think?

People can worship their refrigerators if they want to, but we can’t allow them to project their brain deadism into national policy.

Survival (as always!) is the name of this game; survival of the species and being responsible stewards of the Earth. So what to do, what to do? Good question, but surely the first step is to realize the number one threat to the Earth are institutionalized bird brains, e.g., religious cults and political parties.

Here's another way to put this. Stupid people are out of touch with reality. Gee, but what's "reality"? No, no -- wrong question. Reality is Katrina and death what happens when you stick your hand into a fire. How about that? We can't afford semantic games here. Let's keep it simple, let's keep it real.

You see, this is the real point. When your planet and children's lives are on the line, you lose patience with stupidity (including your own). You get it together and commit to intelligence. You deal with things, you think ahead. This is called being a grownup, a child of the universe.

But millions and millions of us simply can’t or won’t live like that. They're too stupid and/or too afraid.

Well . . . then the buck stops with us, doesn't it? SOMEONE has to be the adult who sees things like they are -- or at least gives it their best shot.

Consider the alternative. Bush/Republicans are Homo Duhians so lost in inadequacy, greed, and terror that they just don't get it that ultimate realness is where we already are.
