White House, China Fought lead-Paint Rules
http://www.denverpost.com/ci_6674760?source=sb-reddit

The Bush administration and China have both undermined efforts to tighten rules designed to ensure that lead paint isn't used in toys, bibs, jewelry and other children's products.

Both have fought efforts to better police imported toys from China.

Now, both are under increased scrutiny after last week's massive toy recall by Mattel Inc., the world's largest toymaker. The recalls follow several other lead-paint-related scares since June that have affected products featuring Sesame Street characters, Thom as the Train and Dora the Explorer.

Lead paint is toxic when ingested by children and can cause brain damage or death. It has been mostly banned in the United States since the late 1970s but is permitted in the coating of toys, providing it amounts to less than six parts per million.

The Bush administration has hindered regulation on two fronts, consumer advocates say. It stalled efforts to press for greater inspections of imported children's products, and it altered the focus of the Consumer Product Safety Commission, moving it from protections for consumers to a more manufacturer-friendly approach.

1. It would almost seem the Bush Administration is set on killing America,
and its people.

When you look back at the Bush Administration's record in office, they've done very little to help the people of America, and they've done a LOT to make our lives more difficult and dangerous.

Why does the Bush Administration hate America?

2. Of course they are

They have all the slave-wage workers needed in other countries to make the THINGS they want to buy. Anyone living in this country who doesn't fulfill some sort of servicing need to the ultra-wealthy is probably an unnecessary person to them. A drain on resources. Therefore culling the herd is needed.

I'd be curious to see some eventual numbers (which will never happen) on where all these toxic products showed up in the US marketplace.... only at places like Wal-Mart/Target/K-Mart where the poor/middle class shop and maybe some of the places that are a notch up from that or are they also in shops that cater to the wealthy? I'm betting the former.

EDIT: I'd ad the sarcasm and the tinfoil icon, but I'm actually 1/2 serious.

3. Because they're really demons
sent by Satan

It's the only explanation I can think of. Why else poison the air, water and land that their own children and grandchildren will breathe? Why else log forests and turn them into deserts, poison streams and soil, and exterminate one species after another? Why else develop genetically engineered seeds that sterilize crops for miles around the place where they are planted?

All the money in the world isn't going to help their own descendants.
