Life itself has checks and balances on evil people -- even if our Constitution doesn't.
It helps to remember that life itself has checks and balances on evil people -- even if our Constitution doesn't.

Life, thank God, is infinitely more complicated than politics. That's why politics is such a joke. That's why this "Democratic Congress" is a fart in a hurricane. Larger forces are at work.

The BIGGEST untapped into force isn't a pretty thing to talk about, but it may turn out to be our salvation and this is the force of raw self interest.

Bush Democrats are so far beneath contempt they don't even show up on the moral radar, but they all have an Achilles’ heel and that heel is their predictable, slavering self interest.

The Judas Joe Lieberman's and DLC Hillary Clinton Doll’s (machined by James Carville) would clearly do ANYTHING if they thought they could get away with it, and yet they won't allow themselves to get SO greedy and dishonorable that they call counter productive attention to themselves.

To say it straight out, evil people typically don't publicly kill other people to further their self interest; however, this isn’t because of "conscience", it’s became they know public murder would almost certainly counter their own selfish agendas.

In short, evil people (e.g., Bush Democrats) are not "conscience people", they are "self interest" people and this is a kind of Achilles’ heel, because this is where their true vulnerability and craziness lies. Thus, the strategies we need should have nothing to do with ethics, law, and rationality, because pig people don't even know how to spell such words (listen to Bush talk about science!).

No, the only way to deal with truly evil people is to discover their secret self interests and vulnerabilities, because this is where our leverage is.

For example, what makes Bush lose his cool in public? What makes him depressed, disorientated, or drunk? Said differently, where are Bush, Cheney, Gonzalez, etc. "most crazy"?

Playing political games with such people is EXACTLY WHAT THEY WANT US TO DO, because (a.) they never play by the rules, (b.) they know the deck is stacked, and (c.) they know 95% of the Democratic Congress would sell their grandmother for a secret retirement fund or a coveted committee position (why are we thinking of Nancy Pelosi?). In short when dealing with fascists, its game over before the first card is dealt.

Look, if you have some total asshole neighbors, nothing constructive will come from civilized chats with animals. In short, once you "get it" that these people laugh at the law, will rape your children, slash your tires, rob you blind, and even KILL YOU if they think the need arises, you have to realize you are not dealing with conscience/rationality life forms, but the dregs of human existence.

And with the dregs of human existence, you don't play political games. Finding out what makes them tick is the first step, because where they are the most compulsive is where they are the most vulnerable. Their own self interest will be their undoing. Life itself knows how to deal with self interest pigs. Call it bad karma; call it hubris; call it Jesus Justice, but life knows how to deal with self interest pigs.

Keeping the faith is all . . .

1. Power, Love or Money
self-interest isn't hard to figure out.

I say for Bush, it's power - big time. And I think he acts like a buffoon in front of foreign leaders because he feels intimidated by what a real leader is supposed to be. Want to really get him on the bottle, flash more pictures of Putin and have more first ladies brush off his dumbass barbecues - or better yet, maybe one of our fearless leaders from Congress can show him what real leadership looks like. That's why I say impeach. Standing up to bullies is the only way to stop them.

2. Universal law will seek to balance our world....
trouble is, it takes time & often takes many casualties along the way. But, at this point it may be our only hope, as Congress doesn't seem to want to do the right thing by the American people.

3. the guy who wrote "Bush on the Couch"...
...the psychologist whose name I've forgotten, said that people should push his buttons in public and then he would reveal the rage and psychosis. He said the guy is barely held together and has a short fuse. If challenged, he would melt down as only a narcissistic bully can do.

If only someone would do this.

I pushed a narcissist into this enraged state once, deliberately. It was a child custody dispute. I had been bullied by this person for many years. I needed to come to a court-ordered meeting with some authority in my bearing. I merely took a legal pad and pencil and took notes on everything the narcissist, my opponent, said. It drove him to fury. And thus his rage was exposed.

analysis and the conclusions derived therefrom as hopelessly simplistic.

At risk of oversimplification, myself, I would point out that everyone, everyone, operates solely from self interest, in the final analysis. Enlightened self interest can, indeed, be considered the most noble of human instincts, while unenlightened, utterly self serving self interest can be the bane of human experience.

We cloak our words, thoughts, and actions in flowery, high minded, socially acceptable sounding terms, leading to conclusions that may have no bearing on original action or intent. That, unfortunately, along with the lack of ability to read minds, tends to lead us to classify people based on a purely arbitrary and often quite inaccurate set of non-standards, using terms that have no fixed meanings. It also covers anti-social intentions and policies while soothing and distracting associates and opponents.

I cannot support your final conclusion, either, that life, somehow, will make sure the selfish, self-centered bastard gets it in the end. This conclusion only works in light of an assumption of continued existence after death, an assumption with no basis in fact and one I cannot, in good conscience, find any rational support for, except that it may alter behavior in some circumstances.

There are nasty, officious, self important rat bastards, who will pay no price for their diseased existence, in this plane or another, and will do their anti-people shit with impunity, their wickedness often surviving them and creating pain and chaos for many, many generations after they, themselves, become little more than a footnote in history. There is no evidence of some sort of "great leveler" that will even the score or bring into being some kind of countervailing force to re-balance humanity or society.

We are the contrary force that looks like "karma" or "justice" and we must swing into action to stop these people and put them somewhere they can no longer hurt us, individually or in common. There is no "life" force or justice-it only looks like that when we can't see the mechanism behind change. We are it.

5. For Bush and Cheney, Death IS Punishment
Why else would Cheney be constantly under medical surveillance? Why would Bush compulsively "exercise" to the point of inflicting permanent injury upon himself?

As to what gets them both furious--getting called on their lies does it, every time. Even the smallest contradiction drives them to fury.

6. points well take
Thank you for your thoughtful response. This was a piece in which I sensed I had a "piece" of something deeply valid, but I knew I hadn't worked it out well enough. What I was groping for is that relating to these monsters "as if" they pay any attention to laws, Constitutions, ethics, rationality, etc. is "playing the political game". But the political game is a totally one sided game in which we inevitably lose. We have to, instead, relate to fascists (for example) almost as if they are different life forms than us, and we have to find out what are the core values and agendas of these alien-like creature.

The point is, we can't win this game with our establishment political structures, and this is close to the heart of what I was (and am) groping for.

I know I didn't do enough with the self interest theme, but feedback such as yours helps me along.

solidarity, Bill
