Student activists demonstrating against US President George W Bush's visit to Sydney for the APEC summit have been given permission by police to march through the city.
Police backflipped after initially refusing to allow the student protesters to march on September 5.

Organisers said police had told them on Wednesday that the protesters would not be allowed to leave Belmore Park for reasons of security and disruption.
"This is an important victory and demonstrates the public pressure on the police not to deny the right to protest," organiser Simon Cunich said.
"Our intention is to hold a peaceful protest of young people who want to show their opposition to the Iraq war when Bush comes to Sydney."
