Under Siege, Blackwater Takes On Air of Bunker
By PAUL VON ZIELBAUER AND JAMES GLANZ, The New York Times

BAGHDAD

The Blackwater compound here is a fortress within a fortress. Surrounded by a 25-foot wall of concrete topped by a chain-link fence and razor wire, the compound sits deep inside the heavily defended Green Zone, its two points of entry guarded by Colombian army veterans carrying shotguns and automatic rifles.

...

For weeks, not a word has emerged publicly from the compound, as the FBI, the American military and the Iraqi government investigate what happened Sept. 16 and earlier Blackwater shootings in Iraq.

But in recent days, that secretive Blackwater world has begun to fray under so much scrutiny, said four current and two former Blackwater employees. They described a grating sense among many Blackwater guards, especially those with years of experience, that the killings on Sept. 16 were unjustified.

"Some guys are thinking that it was not a good shoot, that it was not warranted," said one Blackwater contractor, using military jargon for an episode that results in a wrongful death. "I don't think there was criminal intent involved. I just think it was the application of the use of deadly force gone horribly wrong." He added, "To mitigate one threat, 17 people had to die?"

2. Where's a rhetorical Bunker Buster when you need one?
They operate just as intended. BushCo's extra-dirty deeds done...well, done.

"Heck of a job, Blackie."

3. So it can be explained as "not a good shoot!" Well, probably not so good a "shoot,"
when you've got a whole lot of shocked and surprised DEAD PEOPLE.

It actually can make you gag just considering how easily they can trivialize UNTHINKABLE acts. True right-wingers. Whatever advances your cause is necessary, NO LIMITS.

I would guess they all have to stay drunk during their off hours just to be able to live with what they have done.

4. Blackwater, unlike the troops, could be gone from Iraq tomorrow
All we would need for that to happen would be a declaration by The Decider. But The Decider has done no such thing. Why? After Cindy Sheehan gets her answer from Bush as to what the noble cause is that her son died for, I'd like to pose that question to The Decider.

5. bushco has been building up the strength of mercenary companies using the Iraq invasion as a ruse,
using US Treasury funds to pump up these companies so they'll be huge, extremely well-equipped, and just as powerful as the US Army. Why? You really have to ask yourself why they aren't using US Treasury funds to build up a US Army.

I can tell you my theory. For a start, check out James Lovelock's interview in this month's Rolling Stone. The oceans are going to rise very quickly, climate change will be radically different and much faster than predicted:

My prediction, based on what I've seen: bushco intends to be well-armed and ready to operate as warlords as panic sets in.
