Zogby hints that Ron Paul has a good chance of winning New Hampshire

Posted on November 14, 2007 by Lance
The latest CBS poll out has Ron Paul at 8% among registered Republicans who are likely to vote in the primaries. Given that a large number of Paul supporters are always excluded from the polling data, it is possible that Ron Paul could win New Hampshire when their primary is held.

Yesterday on Sean Hannity’s radio show Mr. Zogby was a guest who said that Ron Paul could take up to 18% of the vote–I’d like to think it is a higher amount overall but he could win it. I know Zogby says Ron Paul won’t win to Sean Hannity, but he’s just reassuring himself. It is going to really depend on how many independents, Democrats, and new voters go for Ron Paul. From what I can tell it is very difficult to measure that because it’s impossible to figure out who all is going to vote in a primary for a Republican when half the state are registered independents plus a lot of libertarian minded people who probably vote for libertarian party candidates most of the time.

1. Only Republicans and Indy's can vote in the republican primaries.
Registered Dems cannot.

2. Well, now, wouldn't that be interesting...
I don't make Paul into a false hero. I am well aware of how opposed we all would be to most of his views unrelated to civil rights protections and the war. He is a staunch libertarian, after all.

But, I must admit to being curious (and a bit amused) at the prospect of his shaking up the REPUGs in NH.

16. (smug) I've been predicting this
Ron Paul will do much better than expected in the early primaries.

Remember: GOP fund raisers aren't particularly internet savvy at that medium. Younger voters are on Paul's side too.

So the level of support for Ron Paul is being vastly underrated in GOP cicles. He will win NH I predict and rake the rest of the GOP over the coals in a few other states too. This will do several things:

1. Frighten typical supporters of the GOP making them slower at raising campaign funds for the general election.

2. Force GOP power wielders to threaten and "backroom" Ron Paul. They must remove him from the old school neo cons. Perhaps have him assassinated.

3. Ron Paul splits from the GOP and runs on third party. Then all GOP hopes die as Paul becomes the Ross Perot of 1992.

Dem candidate easily wins the 270 electoral votes November 2008.

Watch for this!

3. In two separate courts,
suden-sub-urbs of Chicago,
I ran into different Paul reps signing people up. At one location, only two people, at the other, there was a short line 5-6 people. LINING UP to sign.

I suspect that some GOP talking heads will be surprised.

I hope he does win the nomination. So many of his stances are just plain crazy, that we will have no problem winning.

6. It would upset the party quite badly.
If Paul takes NH, the GOP establishment will declare "Jihad" on Paul.
It will get very nasty!

8. I'd laugh like hell if he did. His ads are the best of the field.
I can't stand the guy, but if you stripped out the name and just played the ad, the bullshit in it makes him come off as reasonable, even though he's batshit insane.

Romney's ads SUCK. I mean, suck. Pleasantville lighting, which is a plus, but the verbiage and the disjointedness of the things are horrid. Plus, his premier ad is one where he goes after Clinton, basically calls her an INTERN, and talks about how he is better at "running" things--very corporate, that. Only problem is, he emphasizes the word "running" and to me it sounds like he's running AWAY. The whole ad sounds like he's scared of her, really.

McCain has one that is not horrible, and one idiotic one whining about the Woodstock museum (another cheap shot, comparing himeself to the NY Senator and suggesting that he's the best guy to cut waste--yeah, right). Real short buys, both of them.

As for Paul, I would hope the NH voters aren't so stupid. But it would say something about the overall unattractiveness of the GOP field.

and if he does win their nomination, it will be a lot easier for our candidate to come out against the war.

11. He won't win their nomination. All he'll do is take away from some and give to others. NT

14. Good, let the Republics bankrupt themselves fighting him.
Although he is basically Ayn Rand with Jesus, I would love to see him whip some Juliiana ( spelling unsure ) and Mittens butt royally in Newhamperstan!

(By the way I am a former Newhampster, from Portsmouth before it was invaded by Bostonians and was a working class city.)

15. Paul
The GOP machine is going to go into overdrive to do to Paul what the Clinton machine has already done to Mike Gravel. Keeping your racket safe requires shutting down anyone who occasionally lets slip that the emperor is naked.
