U.S. developing blood-boiling weapon

Hi-tech Torture

by Rosemarie Jackowski / November 21st, 2007

…Now the US military directorate charged with developing non-lethal weapons, which has invested more than a decade developing the Active Denial System (ADS), has launched a concerted effort to convince both the public and its own bosses at the defence department of the device’s merits.

With brand new technology like this, perception is everything,” said Col Kirk Hymes, a former Marine artillery officer who heads the directorate.

He added that tests were almost complete and the first ADS, also known as the Silent Guardian, could be deployed early next year if the Pentagon allows. The decision is so sensitive that it is expected to be made personally by the defence secretary, Robert Gates, who sent senior representatives to the demonstrations…
– The Telegraph, November 19, 2007

Just when it seems that things cannot get any worse, we learn that U.S. military commanders in Iraq are seeking permission to use a new weapon system. This will be the ultimate torture weapon. Its purpose is to cause excruciating pain, but leave no evidence of wounds on the victim. Imagine this weapon at AbuGhraib or Guantanamo. Imagine this weapon at your local precinct. The Department of Defense has named this weapon system “Active Denial”.

Besides torture, this weapon can also be used for crowd control — a ray gun which could literally make blood boil. It is based on the same technology as a microwave oven. The human body is comprised mostly of water… think of the sensation of boiling blood. The purpose of this weapon system is to cause an unbearable level of pain so that the victim will submit to the will of the US military or police.

The gun produces a 95-gigahertz microwave beam that is designed to penetrate 1/64th of an inch. Hummmm, should the experts be trusted to achieve zero defects with a technology that requires so precise a tolerance?

1. Um, if your blood boils wouldn't that kill all the Red Blood Cells?
I seem to remember that being a lethal process...

6. Maybe it only boils your blood for a short, controlled amount of
time before it kills off all your red blood cells. You know it's been extensively tested and nothing could go wrong :eyes:, and no one's worried about the excruciating pain, because that's their end goal.

9. Yes, that whole cruel and unusual punishment only refers to our enemies
We, of course, would never do such a thin :eyes:

Thing is, even if your blood boiled for just a little, enough RBC damage would take place that could incapacitate you until you produced more blood. Add to the mix any hemophiliacs or anemics in the mix, and you've got death on a big scale.

13. exactly, Rush: MPs Just 'Blowing Off Steam'
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2004/05/06/opinion/meyer/main616021.shtml

Here's Rush's sociological evaluation of what really happened at Abu Ghraib, as quoted in a piece in The New Republic on Limbaughism:

"This is no different than what happens at the Skull and Bones initiation, and we're going to ruin people's lives over it, and we're going to hamper our military effort, and then we are going to really hammer them because they had a good time. You know, these people are being fired at every day. I'm talking about people having a good time, these people, you ever heard of emotional release? You heard of need to blow some steam off?"

11. I just read an article in an old 1970's or 1980's newspaper of some cult/gang?
that robbed a bank and was using the money to try and develop something similar.

It may take me a few days to find the paper again, amidst my boxes of old papers and when I do I will post the article.

The theft/arrest took place somewhere in the Bay Area..

Nonlethal weapons touted for use on citizens
Air Force secretary says they should be used for domestic crowd control

WASHINGTON - Nonlethal weapons such as high-power microwave devices should be used on American citizens in crowd-control situations before they are used on the battlefield, the Air Force secretary said Tuesday.

Domestic use would make it easier to avoid questions in the international community over any possible safety concerns, said Secretary Michael Wynne.

“If we’re not willing to use it here against our fellow citizens, then we should not be willing to use it in a wartime situation,” said Wynne. “(Because) if I hit somebody with a nonlethal weapon and they claim that it injured them in a way that was not intended, I think that I would be vilified in the world press.”

The Air Force has funded research into nonlethal weapons, but he said the service isn’t likely to spend more money on development until injury issues are reviewed by medical experts and resolved.

Nonlethal weapons generally can weaken people if they are hit with the beam. Some of the weapons can emit short, intense energy pulses that also can be effective in disabling some electronic devices.

15. Another weird DARPA project?
Remember how DARPA tried to create a Gay Bomb, to make enemy soldiers turn gay and start makin' love on the battlefield?

Seriously, what kind of morally warped excuse for a human sits around and thinks up weapons like these? A device to make blood boil? Really.:eyes:

with interwire gaps less than that. Try covering an umbrella with aluminum windowscreen. Or mold cube-corner retroreflectors into windowscreening, to give the operator a taste of his own medicine.
