Let's say, hypothetically....

Hypothetically you party loses the majority in one part of the legislature and barely holds onto the other one. You have lost two straight Gubernatorial races and a US Senate race. All of this, hypothetically of course, is due mostly to your inability to govern illustrated by your reliance on wedge issues based mostly on ignorance, hate, and impracticality-namely putting all your weight into "illegal immigration". The fringe element of your party refuses to give up what they are sure will keep their base intact regardless of what all evidence to the contrary shows AND that the centrists are red-in-the-face screaming at you.


That being the case, what do you do?
