For those of you who are not familiar with a Mormon Theocracy and it's impact on your daily life, you can get all warm and fuzzy over the idea that if the powerful Republican "puppet masters" have their way and install their favorite McMormon Mannequin, and you do the repugs a service by just killing yourself in abject anger and disappointment, then YOU too can be saved through the power and glory of the Mormon practice of Baptism for the DEAD.
Hey, it apparently worked for the fourth president of the church when he was inspired (BY GOD HIMSELF) to baptize by proxy our Founding Fathers. In a unanimous show of gratitude they appeared to him in the temple and thanked him for selflessly instigating their salvation and admittance into Kolob, or the kingdom nearest God. I can just see Ben Franklin nearly quivering with the thrill of embracing Mormonism. (well, ok, he'd like the philandering part of numerous wives and servant concubines, but the whole pill seems hard for even a joker to swallow). Get ready for a really big dog turd flavored pill with Romney's "tell all" speech from none other than the Lie-Bury of Gee Duh-bya's Daddy. Here's where to find this gem....
http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2007/12/02/romney-to-deliver-faith-in-america-speech/?hpHis campaign is describing the address as an opportunity for Mr. Romney to “share his views on religious liberty, the grand tradition religious tolerance has played in the progress of our nation and how the governor’s own faith would inform his presidency if he were elected.”
Wilford Woodruff (March 1, 1807–September 2, 1898) was the fourth president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) from 1889 until his death. Woodruff's large collection of diaries provide an important record of Latter Day Saint history.
In 1856, Woodruff began serving as church historian, and served in this position for thirty-three years. A religious conservative, he offered charismatic sermons during the period of Mormon Reformation in 1856 to 1858. During his time as the president of the St. George Utah Temple, Woodruff standardized temple ceremonies under the direction of Brigham Young. He was baptized for the dead on behalf of the signers of the United States Declaration of Independence and other American Founding Fathers after he claimed to visitation from the departed spirits of these men in a vision.
