Still sleeping well?

by Wagenvoord | Dec 5 2007

For those of you who are still sleeping well, this happy little thought might change that. It is a plan to guarantee the Republicans will sweep both houses of Congress and the presidency in 2008. It is a sure-fire, win-win scheme that out Roves Rove and could spell the end of the Democratic Party.

Imagine, if you would, a press conference called by the Republican House leadership. They gather before the microphones, somber and saddened, their faces drawn, their shoulders slumped.

House Leader John Boehner steps up to the microphone, and with a catch in his voice makes the following statement:

My fellow American’s, my colleagues and I have just made one of the most gut-wrenching decisions we have ever been called on to make in the course of our political careers, and I pray to God we are never called upon to make another like it.

We are Republicans who have always put party loyalty first. We have stood by our party through good times and bad. And we remain loyal Republicans despite the action circumstances have forced us to take.

However, we are also loyal Americans, staunch supporters of our Constitution and our democratic republic. Tragically, we find ourselves forced to choose between the two. After hours of agonizing soul-searching and debate, we have reached the painful decision that our primary loyalty must be to the Constitution and our democratic republic.

Therefore, with heavy hearts and tears in our eyes, we are introducing a resolution to initiate impeachment proceedings against Richard B. Cheney.

You can hear the braying that would explode on the campaign trail as Republicans exclaimed, “We saved America while the Democrats waffled! They caved; we stood up! Not only are they weak on terrorism, they are too weak to defend America’s sacred institutions!”

Those who think the Republicans would never dump Cheney forget that a ruthless party will stop at nothing to hold onto power. I would not be surprised to see our Corporate elites pushing this. With our economy making gurgling sounds like it is getting ready to tank, the last thing our Corporatists want is a Democratic presidency and Congress. Their memories of FDR are too raw. They would much prefer business-friendly Republicans in power.

Email this piece to the Democratic House leadership and let them mull over it.

But, enough doom and gloom. Here is a bit of cheerful news that is sure to brighten up your day. You no longer have to worry about Avian Bird Flu, e-coli, salmonella, exotic diseases, or super bugs. Science has determined that birth is the leading cause of death.

Have a nice day.

Yes, the Democrats are spineless. But the Republicans are ego-driven, and incapable of doing anything which might reflect badly upon them. It was good a good fantasy piece, but it's still fantasy.

2. Well, thank you, Atman.
I thought a bit of levity wouldn't hurt now and again. And yes, it's PURE fantasy!:silly:

3. I agree
on the levity. We all (understandably) get too serious sometimes.

4. I Should Live So Long
The GOP doesn't do in its members (until they have done themselves in, but don't have the wisdom to "spend more time with their families").

5. but they are NOT staunch supporters of the Constitution, quite the opposite
so I don't think it'll ever happen.
