CNN's Castellanos on Clinton as "white bitch": "Some women...are named that and it's accurate
Edited on Wed May-21-08 11:35 AM by vivalarevolucion77
Discussing Sen. Hillary Clinton's comments regarding sexism in the media's coverage of her presidential campaign, CNN's Jeffrey Toobin referred to a New York Times column that "talked about some of the humor in the campaign, and the punch line was a line that was -- that Hillary Clinton was a 'white bitch.' " CNN political contributor Alex Castellanos asserted, "And some women, by the way, are named that and it's accurate."

1. Jeffrey Toobin comes off as very smug.
I don't really pay attention to him. I don't think he's a real analyst. I think he chooses a position and works towards it, rather than doing analysis and arriving at an opinion.

2. Well there are a bunch of men that I think of as "bitches" and they're white.
My ex was a real whining and tattling brat, he fit the word perfectly.

3. Castellanos once called Democrats "rats"
Edited on Wed May-21-08 11:51 AM by vivalarevolucion77
Alex Castellanos, who made the ad for the Republican National Committee, has fuelled the controversy by apparently changing his explanation as to how the word "rats" came to appear in this advert.

5. You're surprised that the Repukes think that way?
Think twice Hillary supporters before voting for McCain. Didn't he call Cindy a c*nt when she said that his hair was thinning?

8. Bitch: There are times I wear that name proudly....
"Yeah, I'm a bitch, so what are you going to do about it?"

Can't touch me then. And that's what a certain candidate should be doing,
instead of cowering under the 'sexism' banner of shame.

Once you name it, you claim it, and it can't hurt you.
But if you're gonna pull out the 'little girl' act, you lose respect.

YOu can't have it both ways... if you're gonna be a strong woman leader,
you will be 'labeled.' Wear that label proudly.. and move on.

But if you shy away from the power granted by accepted some truths,
you lose. If you're gonna be a gun totin', whiskey shot drinkin' badass,
then do it proudly.

If the press is gonna throw that around, let them. Challenge them.
Accept the power.

10. So, is it okay to refer to women as "ho's" in public now? Derisive terms specific to women...
are becoming acceptable in public discourse.

That's not progress.

12. As pointed out in MediaMatters earlier this week, there is no
limit to what wingers can say and keep their jobs. They cited Kathleen Puker's weekend column in the WP, but in fact every loony winger on the air has engaged in slander, death threats, etc. and none of them ever gets fired.

13. That's over the line.
A serious political pundit shouldn't be allowed to make that kind of comment with no comeback.

14. To be fair, in today's modern world, the word "Bitch" is really just short hand for...
"the thought of a strong women triggers my deepest insecurities, plus my mama didn't raise me to have any class."

15. Allowing ANY pundit-or self appointed expert
continued airtime after that exchange diminishes the argument and credibility of the network. I rarely watch the news for just this reason.
