4. This latest new is so upsetting I just don't know how much
more I can take. Who are we in this country? The people of Enron already robbed my brother who worked there for 27 years and now has nothing. And now..just like Gore said...look what they want to do...oh well, time to take a xanax :-(

5. This looks more like a Wake up call to Americans..
I think this Administration would want to do a cut in SS in some awful secret way. With Greenspan announcing this...He sure got everyones attention today. WoW! This dis-administration does not need this kind of attention.
And watch the Bush Polls drop like a rock in the next few days.
Remember were dealing with Sociopaths and there is a circuitous route to the truth...Greenspan wants America to wake up to these nut cases.
In his own bizarre way of course.

8. The whole misinformation thing is comming to light
I hope more and more people pay attention to what is being reported on the news and what politicians are talkign about.

I have a feeling that the whole gay marriage constitutional ban, Iraq alQuida anti terrorisim 9/11/01 thing is such a big smoke screen to what the conservative agenda is.

Wake up.

No one even tasted the bait going down thier throats.

Right wingers are almost getting everything they want, and that is scary.

:hi: I think more people are becoming aware. And, that is why some of these awful Republican actions are happening so fast and everyday now.

I believe they know their time is up and will push us even harder to get what they want passed. Ignore our right to know about 9/11, The Energy bill,Plame investigation,Iraq, the economy and all of this. They will try and stop investigations on all of these issues, because it's all lies.

They will keep us busy with Gay Rights,Mel and his kook movie etc.

10. Diversion of SS Surplus to Tax Cuts
Hundreds of billions of surplus Social Security payroll taxes have been diverted to pay for Bush's tax cuts for the rich. This was money that was supposed to be set aside to pay future obligations, as the baby boomers retire Here is an excerpt from an article in today's Philadelphia Inquirer:

"Right now, Medicare and Social Security take in more in taxes than they spend on benefits for recipients. But Medicare is projected to go into the red in 2013 and Social Security in 2018.

Currently, surpluses are lent to the federal government and used to help fund the budget deficit. In 2002, the Social Security surplus was $146 billion, and Medicare ran a $26.1 billion surplus.

When those programs go into the red, the government in theory would have to repay them from general tax revenues or borrowing that is already insufficient to pay for current expenditures.

The shortfalls could affect financial markets and the economy long before they arrive. Looking at today's deficits together with future Social Security and Medicare liabilities, investors may lose faith in the government's ability to avoid ever-increasing deficits.

At some point, that probably would push up interest rates, threatening economic growth, said Greenspan."
