Why Their Religion Matters (WaPo)

Why Their Religion Matters
The Wasilla Assembly of God, Sarah Palin's former church, shut down part of its website last week, claiming it couldn't handle the sudden surge in traffic. In case you're interested, the site no longer offers access to the sermons of Palin's former pastor, Ed Kalnins.

And in case you're interested, Politico reported last week that Palin was present at her current church, Wasilla Bible Church, for an Aug. 17 sermon by David Brickner, a controversial "Jews for Jesus" activist who claims terrorist attacks on Israelis are God's "judgment" on Jews.

Are you interested? How much do you want and need to know about the religious views, experiences and associations of the men and women who run for public office? Where should we draw the line between "we need to know" and "none of our business"?

Waters is making the case in the Washington Post to "go there" if we want to. I have a hunch we should - but especially, if McCain or Palin opens the door. I have another hunch Palin might come out of hiding any time now, and get snarky about the "muslim" gaffe. Theocracy needs to be taken-on sometime anyway. It's the "elephant in the room".

I'm just sayin'... I'd be ready with a stiff 2x4 if the gopher pops her head outta the hole.

2. I couldn't disagree more strongly.
I don't expect anything except the truth about her beliefs to come out. Obama and McCain both sat for 45 minutes with "Rev. Rick" didn't they? This is already on the table. So I think Palin's religious beliefs are extremely relevant.

I DO NOT want another End Times nutcase with the ability to launch a war; and neither I believe, does most of the rest of the nation.

3. This IS an issue.
McSame/palin seek to limit my familiy's rights because of her far right religious extremeism. She's a holy roller who says that preventing GLBT equality is one of her top three goals s Govenor, in a state with soaring Meth production and rampant use, rape at twice the national average, teen pregnancy on the upswing, and dozens of other problems of major impact.
When a person picks up the Bible and starts beating others into submission with it, that is most decidedly an issue.

4. Mark my words, there will be NO media outcry on this..
She's an attractive white woman,
and any questioning of her will be excoriated as sexism-
(from the same people who blasted HIllary).

She proudly wears the banner of Christian,
but her church is even MORE extreme than Obama's,
and I doubt her pastors have 1/10th the advanced education
that Jeremiah WRight has.

But, there will be no questions,
there will be no religious summit, or major speech like Obama's.

Once again, denials and cover-ups.
