Our Constitution was constructed to keep religious fanatics like Sarah Palin OUT of government!
Ladies and gentlemen, let do an anatomy of a religious fanatic.

First and foremost, a religious fanatic (e.g., America's "religious right" and the Armageddon air heads) have a literally psychotic relationship with nature. Let's look very carefully at this relationship (or lack thereof) and examine the suicidal consequences to human civilization.

Let's take an example. How about Sarah? Well, if Sarah Palin is true to her word and actually "believes" those fundamentalist doctrines, she is part of a mindless herd of human beings who think nature is just a "motel" they are passing through on their way to salvation or damnation.

Now, it's really hard to take in that kind of mental buffoonery, since the majority of the human race, in varying degrees and varying ways knows in their bones that ultimate realness is where we already are. In fact, that's a kind of ultimate IQ test for our species, which you pass only if you know This is It.

However, if, like Sarah Palin, you think the universe (why stop with the Earth?) is a Motel 6 we're "just passing through", then the infinity of such arrogance is matched only by an equivalent infinity of stupidity.

There's a million ways to stick holes into such fanaticism. For example, if Mother Nature (to put it poetically) is a temporal blip that Palin-type fundamentalists are condemned to hang out in for a time, then you gotta admit, this is some hell of a motel. In such a motel, quasars are reduced to (what?) "wall paper" and quantum mechanics is sort of poking around in the rug.

Perhaps we should take pity on the fundies and not even talk about the theory of evolution (which by the way, is NOT a “theory” in the speculation sense, but only as a superb intellectual explanation of certain processes of nature). But since such talk jiggles fundamentalists to creationist free associations, let’s move on.

And what to do, what to do with Einstein's special (much less general) relativity? Are time, space, and simultaneity really relative? And what does that have to do with "going to heaven or hell" anyway? After all, the thumbs up or thumbs down business is the only thing that ultimately counts to a religious fanatic, so physics, schmiscs. Anyway, Einstein didn't have much good to say about fanatics (he once described a parade of marching Nazis as being able to function with their spinal cords). Nope, no matter how you stretch it, there is NEVER any way you're going to turn Albert Einstein into an Armaggdonite (i.e., the Earth is going to go boom any day now).

Hey Sarah! Do you worry about that "going boom" stuff? And if not, why not? You know, if you don't, it sure makes you wonder how much of your true believerism is really politics? Is it unkind for me to say this reduces you to being either a moron or a hypocrite?

However, we still haven't looked at what our founding fathers were so worried about when it came to the religious cult crowd. They knew that IF they came to power as a theocracy, all their wacko beliefs (and hatreds!) would be turned into laws. In those days, they didn't worry too much about the environment, but for us, that's probably the most terrifying danger of Sarah Palin.

Can you imagine how she would TOTALLY IGNORE the life and death points of no return that the Earth has been reduced to by, say, Texas energy corporations, and the general lust for fossil fuels as a money cow for the infinitely rich elites, plus her indifferent passivity in face of New Orleans level hurricanes, disastrously widening ozone holes, global warming (and, yes Virginia, it IS man made), and the catastrophic going ballistic pollution of our skies, rivers, oceans, and (once upon a time) "fertile fields of grain"?

None of this (and 10,000 other crises) would mean ANYTHING to her, because her eye is on the prize of religious fanaticism salvation. In other words, some kind of loony tunes that is independent and transcendent to the Earth specifically, and to the reality/universe in general.

Most Earthlings, not just Americans, now understand that it's sink or swim time. Countless biosystems of the Earth (for openers, the human species biosystem) is in an agony of death troughs and WE SIMPLY HAVE RUN OUT OF TIME.

Science tells us we are at a put out or shut up place. However, all is not lost IF we radically reinstitute and expand the environmental protections the Bush/Republicans trashed in the name of greed (GOP - Greed on Parade, indeed).

And how would our brand new air head pug VP factor into this? She would not only stay in denial, she would CELEBRATE the Death of the Earth (just as would air head McCain and Bush)!

Am I exaggerating? You know I'm not. These are people who are sick to death of Mother Nature. Hey, they want to leave the motel. They want their "heavenly rewards". It makes you sick to talk about it. And Sarah Palin would leading this glassy-eyed lemming parade over the cliff.

Another take on all this (which many of you might prefer) is not between religious fanatics and "children of the universe" (isn't that a lovely phrase?), but between literal morons and human beings who actualize their intelligence.

To say it snappily, the core conflict now on planet Earth is between stupid people (e.g., religious fanatics, etc.) and smart people, i.e., people who honor their children of the universe birthright. We all don't have to be Einstein's, but we DO have to be virtually another species from Sarah Palin and her mindless, nature-contemptuous ilk.

2. I agree with all this, except
the constitution doesn't really adress keeping religious fanatics out of office. It merely says the government should stay out of religion. If we are stupid enough to elect one of these loons, we are on our own.

3. my 2 cents
What the Founding Fathers were saying is that government has no right to tell the churches what doctrine to teach, and the churches can't dictate the laws of the government.
