How Racism Works
How racism works
September 05, 2008

What if John McCain were a former president of the Harvard Law Review? What if Barack Obama finished fifth from the bottom of his graduating class? What if McCain were still married to the first woman he said “I do” to? What if Obama were the candidate who left his first wife after she no longer measured up to his standards?

What if Michelle Obama were a wife who not only became addicted to pain killers, but acquired them illegally through her charitable organization? What if Cindy McCain graduated from Harvard? What if Obama were a member of the “Keating 5”? What if McCain was a charismatic, eloquent speaker?

If these questions reflected reality, do you really believe the election numbers would be as close as they are?

This is what racism does. It covers up, rationalizes and minimizes positive qualities in one candidate and emphasizes negative qualities in another when there is a color difference.

1. how racism works
Could not of have said it better myself.Too many of us don't want to acknowledge such truth, because in reality, such truth Hurts. Better to deny it.
I have been watching the many other things overlooked by most in the media,of the blatant double standard,so it is good thing that Barak Obama has steered clear of doing anything of even identifying with that seem too Black.
Just being where he is now is amazing.
The real test will come when people get into the voting booth and time has come to make that choice
the choice of relinquishing power to highest office in this country to someone not from the status quo.
It will be interesting to see how it turns out.:)

2. There are other factors, but
When the differentials keep stacking up like this it becomes clear and undeniable.

4. Racism, sexism, any form of discrimination...
is about a double standard. What do you think would have been said about Hillary if Chelsea was pregnant at 17 years of age let alone what have been said about Obama? Bus goes to Harvard as a legacy and attends Yale is a member of Skull and Bones (no conspiracy stuff being pushed here just pointing out the exclusivity of this group) does he get called an elitist. Ask any one of us why we won't vote for McCain we will straight up say his policies stink... you won't get this weak ass answer: There is just "something" about him... I can't trust him.

The great thing is that Obama is dauntless in the face of this.

5. I've never EVER heard Sean Hannity talk about sexism
until Sarah Palin became the VP candidate. Then all of a sudden it's sexism 24/7. It's absolutely revolting to see all the conservatives fake indignation on this and any number of other issues.

I guess when you have two faces a double standard comes naturally.
