WE don't want to be alarmist but the Sketch was impressed by the Fianna Fail councillor who informed us that he had 'a rifle, 200 rounds of ammunition and a hunting knife. I'm ready for the recession'.
In these straitened times foresight is a noble virtue.
There was further good news too as we learned that not everyone has fallen victim to the new ethos of doom and gloom.
The revelation that billionaires who give loans to banks at higher rates of interest would be covered by the banking bailout did provoke Eamon Gilmore into asking some pinko lefty questions as to why we were supporting 'these billionaires' ...
