Bush Busy On Pardons, Not So Busy On Fix To Economy
Edited on Mon Nov-24-08 09:15 PM by ksimons
In the latest round, George W. Bush has granted pardons to fourteen people and commuted the prison sentences of two others convicted of misdeeds ranging from drug offenses to tax evasion, from wildlife violations to bank embezzlement. Including these actions, he has granted a total of 171 and eight commutations.

A couple of representative pardons:

*** Richard Micheal Culpepper of Mahomet, Ill., who was convicted of making false statements to the federal government.

*** Geneva Yvonne Hogg of Jacksonville, Fla., convicted of bank embezzlement.

*** William Hoyle McCright Jr. of Midland, Texas, who was sentenced for making false entries, books, reports or statements to a bank.

*** Orion Lynn Vick of White Hall, Ark., who was convicted of aiding and abetting the theft of government property.

-- and of symbolic significance perhaps, given the state of our country right now,

*** Leslie Owen Collier of Charleston, Mo. She was convicted for unauthorized use of a pesticide and violating the Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act.

3. Yeah I don't know why we have to wait for Obama to take office.
Why can't the worthless piece of shit that created this disaster get off his dead ass, put down his bottle of liquor and do something for the country?

4. Meh...This is S.O.P.
The lame duck president has only one real power left..the Pardon\commutation.

Bush has used this far less than most other 2 termers.

Now...unless he starts giving blanket pardons for people that may face war crimes charges (I will be in the streets with a picthfork if that happens) - this is just standard lame duck stuff. Absolutely nothing to get worked up about.

Less than 2 months to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

5. Do you think he'll attempt to grant pre-emptive pardons ?
That is, for anyone involved in "his" war, post 9/11. Can a Pres. pardon you for crimes you've yet

to be convicted of? I think not ; but I could be very wrong. But, in his slimy way, he's probably

figured out a way to cover his tail after he leaves office. (Yeah! He's leaving office!) Sorry, had

to do that, it's like a twitch or something. Maddow questioned or stated (kind of both, in her way)

that pres. B#!# is irrelevant at this point. IMO, it more than shows. He looks sillier than usual,

if that's possible.
