I'll be thrilled to see you go, Dick Cheney
At least Dick Cheney, as wrong a guy as we've ever had this close to the presidency, goes out in character, thinking that he and George W. Bush were right about everything. The problem is that Cheney's character now sounds as weird and unhinged as Jack Nicholson's in "A Few Good Men."

There was Cheney on the Fox television network Sunday, always more a home to him than Yankee Stadium is to Derek Jeter, defending the last days of a dying administration and a dying Republican empire, defending Bush and Iraq and Donald Rumsfeld, defending Guantanamo and torture and surveillance and all the rest of it.

Cheney never got around to defending Scooter Libby, the felon who was once his chief of staff, but maybe that was because he ran out of time.

He did go after Joe Biden big Sunday, because Biden said during the campaign that Cheney was the most dangerous vice president the country has ever had.

1. What the op ed left out.

Cheney is smug because he got everything he wanted. Don't think twice that this poor excuse for a human isn't proud of what he accomplished. They did everything they wanted to.

War
Gutting the EPA
Destroy the Land Bureau
Destroy the FDA
Steal money
Destroy the gov.
Torture some people
Steal an election
Raise a private army

Dick Cheney's plan has been to destroy all protections in order for the free market to reign. His goal was to get rid of government for the most part so that only private contractors could "save" it. He has been nothing but efficient in what he & his cronies have done. Without the world cheering on Obama they would have tried to steal another election to finish the job. If they didn't think that the rest of the world would have had an intervention with us they would have stole one more.

6. One failure on their part: They didn't destroy Social Security.
They tried to destroy Social Security and the rest of the "safety net," but didn't make it.

They did, however, wreck this country irreparably, and turned over billions to their fraudulent supporters. Worst administration ever, by light years.

7. That is what massive debt is for.
To destroy Social Security. I bet we find out in a couple of weeks that they borrowed Social Security dry.

2. For eight long miserable years
I've despised George W Bush, often not even stopping to think that the real "power behind the throne" was most likely Dickhead Cheney.

Bush was an evil buffoon

Cheny was evil of the sly and crafty sort

Probably more to be feared in the long run than that fool, Bush.

Although I'd like nothing better than to see both of them rotting away in prison.

3. Ya gotta give him that
The man is who he is and nothing else. I don't think he could even pretend to be something else.

He believes, in that dark little hole he calls a soul, that he is right and correct and even doing what is best for America.

And he is definitely more dangerous than Bush. Cheney was the real power for several years. Bush is and was, just a buffoon that can barely pronounce his own name. Lucky for them, he can read. Even if his pacing always seems a bit off, since he has no idea what he's saying.

4. I think Cheney never did give a shit about America. I think he saw the United States as
an entity to be strip-mined for the benefit of him and his wealthy cronies. Aggregating wealth and international political power is his world -- a decent, functioning governmental structure for this country wasn't even visible on his horizon.

He claims to be a member of the Executive Branch when he wants Executive Privilege, but claims to be in the Legislative Branch when the Executive Branch comes under scrutiny. And everybody has let him get by with it.

His habit of demonstrating naked power was intended to keep everybody else in line, intimidated and silent, and it's worked with the press and with Congress. I'm just grateful it didn't work here.

5. I hate to say it but I don't think he'll be going anywhere, just more hidden.
A man as powerful as zany who hasn't been put in prison, or even impeached for what he has done, surely has set himself up comfortably to rule from behind the scenes in the company of the likes of Kissinger and Rockefeller.
