The top 10 political train wrecks of 2008
10. Objectivity goes bye-bye at MSNBC: I used to argue that MSNBC had the guts to objectively report inconvenient facts about the Bush Administration without feeling obligated to present a fact along with an opposing “viewpoint” as Fox News notoriously does. Sure, Keith Olbermann was probably a liberal, but he was telling the unvarnished truth about an administration...

6. “Obama is a Muslim/Terrorist” and other lies: The insinuations from the McCain/Palin campaign were outrageous but, being an official campaign, they had to do it with a wink and a nod. The garbage that came from Fox News (like the “Terrorist fist bump”) was pretty bad and what came from conservative talk radio hosts was somewhat worse. But it was that which came from the Republican “base” in the crowds in and around the McCain/Palin rallies...

2. The hijacking of feminism...

1. Very interesting commentary.
I think you are right on about Sarah Palin and said it better than it's been said before.

John Edwards' screw-up (for lack of a better word) was monumental and so very disappointing. I had admired him for so long, and still think his personal life is his own business EXCEPT when running for POTUS. He and Elizabeth knew full well what had happened, yet charged full speed ahead, risking the Democratic win of the Presidency. I perish to think what would have happened if he would have won the nomination and then the "scandal" broke. What on earth were they thinking?

Actually, though, I hope MSNBC continues to give us reports from a liberal point of view. It is sorely needed and is actually the truth, backed up by facts, not the propaganda bullshit that Fox spews. Go Keith, Go Rachel, and Go Tweety (who knows, he may be our next Senator!)!

2. Author is completely wrong about MSNBC.
Implies that when Olbermann and Matthews were dumbstruck by an Obama speech and showed it, they "let the cat out of the bag" as to their political leanings, and were properly punished for it by being taken off as election-night anchors, and that MSNBC needs someone "objective" to do this work. Nonsense.

They were the same people they always were that night. Olbermann just got blown away by Obama's eloquence--he's always admired eloquence--and his sincerity, and from that moment on probably realized that while his sentimental heart might have been with Hillary, he was finally seeing Obama as someone with something to say, while Hillary was running out of gas.

Tweety? He was just being the same weathervane he always has been. Bush in a flight suit gave him just as big a thrill up his leg as Obama's speech. That's how he is.

3. Oh, my!
You know as well as I do that KO's love fest with Barack Obama started LONG before the Democratic National Convention.

He was railing against HRC for a very long time, and did not even try to hide it.

You don't REALLY think it all began "from that moment on" when he "was finally seeing Obama as someone with something to say, while Hillary was running out of gas." at the convention, do you?

His "sentimental heart" was NEVER with Hillary! Not EVER!

6. So, moving on, to you
means rewriting history? The information in the post to which I was responding is just downright incorrect.

If you bother to look, you will note that I have moved forward, and fully support President Elect Obama. That does NOT mean that I will or should no longer admire Hillary Clinton, not correct misinformation when I see it. My post said NOTHING against the President Elect.

I still, as a matter of fact, watch Olbermann every night, and agree with him on MOST issues. Lets not pretend, however, that Olbermann EVER supported Hillary Clinton in any way.

If you somehow find it wrong to point out misinformation, then perhaps it is you who needs the reminder that, not only is the primary season over, but the GE is as well.

5. Agreed, they were canned because of the fighting on camera
not the misty eyed reception to an outstanding acceptance speech. Shame on the author for forgetting that part, but I guess it wouldn't fit with his loss of objectivity rant.

The other 9 items were spot on, though.
