Commentary: Obama a leader who actually leads-By Jack Cafferty CNN
NEW YORK (CNN) -- What a welcome change to feel like someone is running the country instead of running it into the ground.

President Obama has done more in eight weeks than George W. Bush did in eight years -- unless you include starting a couple of wars.

While the armchair quarterbacks second guess the new president, he gets up every day and does things, lots of things.

Whether it's creating commissions for women and girls, ordering the investigation of President Bush's use of signing statements, or jamming a huge stimulus package through Congress, the man is working his tail off. And he seems to be loving every minute of it. It's almost as though our president was born to do exactly what he's doing. He's leading, and boy, is that refreshing.

1. Amen!!
No wonder the rethuglicans are so critical -- they are not used to having a President who can actually "lead"!

4. By god, he's actually DOING something
Not sitting on his hands saying "Well, let the free market take care of it."

5. this is why the meme about doing too much. if obama keeps this up
he may ACTUALLY get his agenda through. The only way to stop the healthcare agenda is to get it put off until later. later they will be able to stop it. As long as the train is still moving then they'll just get steamrolled. They want obama to have to just focus on one thing so that he can't get anything else done. It's very shortsighted and very selfish. I agree that the healthcare dilemma is inextricably connected with the economy. The auto companies are a good example of how the cost of healthcare is dragging them down and making them less competitive with foreign auto makers. If we could make healthcare less expensive AND figure out how to make it so we aren't paying two, three times for something we could just be paying for once...

And we need to be dealing with alternative energy as well. Think of how much farther we could be right now if we had been focusing on this back when it wasn't such a big problem. I mean, china is going around buying up all the oil they can. If there is one thing that is making us vulnerable it is our dependence on oil. OPEC knows it. Does no one see how humiliating it is to our country to have to beg that the saudis don't cut off production of oil!!! Yeah, we sure are the greatest country... the strongest most powerful. But oil is our achilles heel. There are so many reasons why being out front on alternative energy sources is advantageous to us. Environmentally is just one of them. Economically is another... and national security is a big one. When I talk about alternative energy with my right wing brother, he understands national security.
