Kerry to Launch Overtime Protest Over Web
Associated Press

DES MOINES, Iowa - Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry plans an Internet-based petition drive that is intended to protest the Bush administration's proposal to tighten overtime pay standards.

The Massachusetts senator was using a Monday meeting with labor activists to get the effort under way by putting the first signature on the protest petition on his campaign's Web site. ---

Kerry was following in the footsteps of one of his Democratic rivals by using the Internet for his latest effort. Former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean has used the Internet aggressively to build a network of 200,000 volunteers and surpass his Democratic rivals in raising money, much of it generated online.

Dean campaign manager Joe Trippi dismissed Kerry's move as nothing more than a copy of the Dean campaign, but he warned it will take more than the Internet for Kerry gain. ---

1. Foolish move
Although it is a wise move to use the internet as Dean has done, this move almost proves that the Kerry team knows very little about the internet and it's power.

As anybody here will tell you....

-The internet is a powerful tool.
-Online petitions are NOT.

2. I think it's a great idea. Let's see what happens.
It's also a good move to announce it before the AFL-CIO meeting.

3. Were the pre-war protests "petitons"?
"A powerful tool" for what?

4. As long as he's attacking Bush
I don't care what he uses. Everybody pile on Bush and we'll pick a winner later. Yes!
