Obama’s Health Care Charade

Obama’s Health Care Charade

Submitted by Glen Ford on Wed, 05/13/2009 - 07:43

by BAR executive editor Glen Ford

President Obama has gone to extraordinary lengths to suppress advocates of single-payer health care. He has choreographed a grand theater of faux-change, in which he "seeks to create a façade of unity along lines that do not threaten corporate power." The goal is to "sidetrack, possibly for decades, the most broadly supported idea in American politics, today." This "requires elaborate reconstructions of reality," starting with "methodically erasing single-payer advocates from the picture, with the enthusiastic collaboration of the corporate media." Thus, Obama and compliant Democrats on The Hill stage "summits" and "public roundtable discussions" on health care from which majority U.S. opinion is totally excluded.

2. "Charade"
I am an optimist. I really hope it's Obamas political skill in undermining the Insurance/pharmaceutical companies. Placating them, having them believe he is working on their side... keeping them from rearing up against him before he strikes with what America really wants.

4. So far, I have not noticed a big banking interest or a big financial investment firm

Scheme that Obama has not further aided and abetted.

Some three to twelve trillion to the banking people, all under the pretence that that is the only way that any of them will loan any of that money to us.

And they are not loaning to us - just stockpiling it away.

So I am not holding my breath.

PS IF you saw Elliott Spitzer on Rachel Maddow last night,he mentions the foreclosure legislation that would have allowed Americans to stay in their homes - big bankiong interests opposed it. Thirteen Dems voted against it, and it was defeated. Obama could not be bothered to campaign on the behalf of people being foreclosed.

5. It certainly does look like that more and more every day.

As someone who slapped shoe-leather all day Election Day, putting Obama doorhangers on doors in KKK-country, this is tremendously disappointing, to say the least.

And yes, this article is factually correct in terms of the systematic shutting out of single-payer advocates, with the full complicity of the usual suspects in the Toady M$M.
