The Silent President
No reasonable American blames Mr. Bush for the terrorist attacks, but that's a long way from thinking there was no other conceivable action he could have taken to prevent them. He could, for instance, have left his vacation in Texas after receiving that briefing memo entitled, "Bin Laden Determined to Strike in U.S." and rushed back to the White House, assembled all his top advisers and demanded to know what, in particular, was being done to screen airline passengers to make sure people who fit the airlines' threat profiles were being prevented from boarding American planes.

---------------------------

I must not be a "reasonable person" because the more I learn, the more I do in fact blame Bush for "9/11".
Maybe he couldn't have stopped the attacks BUT...with just a little "urgency" on his part, he just may have.
We will never know.

3. I guess that puts me in the 'unreasonable' category
because I blame him for much of the state of the world today, that didn't exist before that little creep stole the WH.

4. Edit that to "utter, uncomplicated stupidity" and then I'll agree.
Ah, "The New York Times" and its delicate, Victorian sensibilities:

"It is only the demands of his re-election campaign that are guiding Mr. Bush's public stance of utter, uncomplicated self-righteousness."

6. This absurd charade that bush* is any kind of "leader"...
That he has any interest whatsoever in the good of the country, that he's remotely capable of any sort of critical thinking at ALL, just bugs the sh*t out of me!

He's a phony, a fake, a shallow, egomaniacal sociopath with the emotional and intellectual capacity of a spoiled pre-adolescent.

This pathetic excuse for a man is not, nor has EVER been a "leader" -- and it is to the eternal shame of the craven media in this country that this two-bit punk was ever foisted upon the American public in the first place.

And STILL they polish this turd... :puke:

9. 's truth
How much longer can the media whores keep it up? David Broder seems to have found the courage that I think he has been without for most of the past several years. See today's column at http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A2549-2004Apr10.html

Journalists are cowards, just like everyone else. They move like a herd, and have been afraid to speak the truth for fear of losing their job or for fear of right-wing ridicule.

But the tipping point may be at hand. Once the Great Lie (Bush is a leader/Bush is tough on terrorism/Bush makes us safer) no longer finds a home in the media consensus, the end may come fast, just as Soviet sponsorship enabled the despots of Eastern Europe until 1990, when they crumbled. Today, media complicity enables the equally-feeble Bush presidency.

7. Well, so much for the premise that "Plain Speaking People"
make good leaders and Presidents.

Bush is the personification of Stupid Voting.

Quality Voting results in Quality Leaders.

Picture Gore, "Mr President, the Rudman/Hart Report is here. Sez we should beef up security. What should we do?"
