Bork Proves He Should Have Been Borked
Robert Bork himself is responsible for the verb “bork” entering the english language. Like the conservative friends of Pat Buchanon, he doesn’t have a grasp of the English language anymore, and can’t help but prove why he was unfit for the SCOTUS.

1. He left cigarette butts all over my press room about 1990. Slob.
I managed media relations for an association then, and he was a guest luncheon speaker (not good, either - totally self absorbed, even then). We invited the press to meet with him before he spoke, and he chain smoked and threw his butts all over the place. Yuck.

We had other conservatives speak. Marilyn Quayle was actually quite pleasant. William F. Buckley was a blowhard. Arianna Huffington was very nice, and hot (this was before she became a progressive).

I think my favorites from those days were Pat Paulsen and Mark Russell. What a couple of real gentlemen.

Nina Totenberg from NPR was quite rude. Gloria Steinem was very nice. Shockingly, Beverly Sills was a real Diva!

2. L.O.L.!!!
Clarence Thomas is his favorite Justice. Not only does he not have a grasp of the English language, he doesn't seem to have a grasp on reality!

3. I Believe Bork Actually Did Get Borked
I remember some of the criticisms by the opposition, and many of them were misleading and out of context. Bork defended himself very effectively against the radio spot.

Bork's views were out of the mainstream and he should have been rejected purely on philosophical grounds. For some reason, Senators decided they couldn't do that and needed to create a straw man.

4. In a poli-sci class I took recently,
the final had an essay question based on an article about censoring music written by Bork.

My first line, "What credibility does a failed Supreme Court nominee, rejected for being a zealot, have to critique music?" I then listed my own credentials (A minor in ethnomusicology, five years in commercial radio, producer of my own music show) and said Bork doesn't know what the fuck he's talking about.

I got an "A".
