What do you get the President who has everything? Well, everything except for a barely-above 50 percent approval rating. In honor of President Barack Obama’s birthday on Tuesday, we offer Eight Great gift ideas for the man himself.
A case of Bud Light - Look, I’m all for buying American, especially in this economy, but when Obama announced that his beer of choice at last week’s White House “beer summit” with Gates and Crowley was Bud Light, one had to question the decision. Of all the beers available to him, he chose one with little taste, and even less sex appeal. But to each his own, so if that’s what he wants to throw back, so be it. At least he didn’t choose a pear cider.

A box of Nicoderm gum - Obama has admitted to occasionally puffing away on cigarettes. But after signing the Smoking Prevention Act in June, which gives the FDA power to regulate tobacco products, isn’t it time that Obama practices what he preaches, especially in light of his tremendous influence on today’s youth? Does smoking add to the President’s “coolness” factor? Absolutely. Does it also add to his hypocrisy? Also true.
New jeans - During the President’s ceremonial first pitch at the MLB All-Star Game in July, he sauntered out to the mound in a Chicago White Sox jacket and an admittedly “frumpy” pair of blue jeans. Later on the ‘Today’ show, Obama acknowledged that he hates to shop and “those jeans are just comfortable.”
With all due respect, Mr. President, you might hate to shop, but I’m sure you can get someone in your administration to run out and get you a pair of proper fitting blues. Preferably, something darker and longer. I know that St. Louis sits right next to the Mississippi River, but it’s not quite flood season yet!
A nice wall frame to display his birth certificate - Last year, the rumor mill was abuzz with people claiming that Obama refused to release his birth information because it would prove that he wasn’t born in America, and thus, invalidate his candidacy for president. In June 2008, the Obama campaign released a copy of the certificate, which was soon verified to be authentic. The absurdity of it all was exhausting. Even still, why not proudly display it with a handsome wall mount?
