Pittsburgh Post Gazette Editorial calls Ashcroft "weasel"
and comes close to blaming 911 on him!

<http://www.postgazette.com/pg/04115/305695.stm>

<snip>

Mr. Ashcroft used weasel words to deny testimony by the former acting FBI director that the attorney general seemed maddeningly uninterested in details of threats to the United States by Osama bin Laden and al-Qaida in the months leading up to 9/11.

Thomas Pickard, who ran the FBI in mid-2001 after the resignation of Louis Freeh and before Robert Mueller took over a week prior to the attacks, said he was notified on Sept. 12 that an FBI request for an extra $58 million to fight al-Qaida had been denied. Moreover, Mr. Pickard said he had briefed the attorney general on al-Qaida threats twice that summer before Mr. Ashcroft told him "he did not want to hear this information anymore."

Unlike Ashcroft, Weasels don't throw people in jail forever because of their religion or ethninicity. As far as I'm concerned Ashcroft is guilty, he should be the one in Jail, not Arabs or Muslims. Everything from his aversion to flying on airplanes, the extra $58 million to fight al-Qaida that had been denied, and the fact that Ashcroft refused to hear information regarding terrorism shows us just how responsible he is.

2. Don't forget............
blaming Clinton for everything. The *responsibility* administration never taking responsibility for anything.
Asscrack continuously referred to budget shortfalls of the "previous administration" when testifying in front of the 9/11 commission. However, it seems that he had a chance to correct this egregious oversight and not only passed on it, but told parties involved that he didn't want to hear about it any more.
To me that makes him as, if not more culpable, than previous parties.
All of that Vaseline in his hair has definitely seeped into his brain-pan and caused serious damage.

3. Love the title of the editorial
Eyes wide shut / Ashcroft's less-than-intense interest in threats
