Religious right watch: Health care reform is against God’s design
Conservative Christian leaders urge flock to swarm town hall meetings and 'read them the riot act'

http://minnesotaindependent.com/41364/religious-right-watch-obamacare-is-against-gods-design

Jan Markell of Maple Grove–based Olive Tree Ministries called on her radio listeners to attend congressional town hall meetings in August. “Here’s what you can do, your congressmen and senators are coming home for much of August,” she said on last week’s program. “They are going to have town hall meetings all over the place. You need to go there and give them an earful. The ideal thing to do is to go to their town hall and read them the riot act — in Christian love — but read them the riot act on this issue of health care.”

The Minnesota Family Council says that Obama’s plan for health care reform is against God’s design.

“Some may ask what does God have to do with our health care system,” wrote Minnesota Family Council president Tom Prichard. “For one, He’s created the government as an institution in society to do certain things. When we reject His design for government, in a sense, we’re rejecting Him.”

Prichard continues, “In Obama’s worldview, our trust is in government not in God. A denial of how God designed and created our economic and social systems to actually work in the real world. The result? The abysmal failure of government control of health care in socialist models. From the USSR which takeover everything, including health care, to our neighbors to the north, Canada and European countries such as the UK where rationing and massive waiting periods are the order of the day.”

In the national context, the largest and most well-known religious right groups are employing some bizarre tactics. The Christian Coalition of America is pitting seniors against immigrants. Health care reform would “provide healthcare to illegal aliens, while rationing care to elderly and disabled American citizens.”

Americans for Truth say that the public option would go to pay for sexual reassignment surgery for transgendered people. “Will ObamaCare Turn into Taxpayer-funded ‘Tranny-Care’?” asks their latest email alert. The Family Research Council is pushing Republican talking points — verbatim.

Once again these loud-mouthed self-proclaimed "Christians" prove they are incapable of even understanding the teachings of Jesus, much less following them.

And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

23. Actually named "Americans for Truth About Homosexuality" but they
shorten the name often so it doesn't look like Peter has a special fixation on all things homosexual. This is the guy they call Porno Pete over at Pam Spauldings blog - because he's ap parently got a very .. um .. deep fascination for studying gay porno and attending various leather festivals to 'report' to his gullible, easily conned into supporting Peter's lifestyle readership in great detail about the activities.

for I think they are all evil political/religious cults... hmmmm... actually there's plenty of truth in that statement.

As another stated above, these are "heretics". They are literally twisting the concept of "christ" and using it for antidemocratic reasons. Worst of all, they are paid to do it. Nothing spiritual about any of it.

18. Yes, God designed and created our economic and social systems.
Just ours, he didn't bother with any other country. He just let them design their own. And it would be unchristian to heal the sick, wouldn't it? :sarcasm:

By the way, Michele Bachmann is apparently involved with this church.

God must have designed our faux free market crony capitalism economic system on the 8th day, cuz I don't remember that one from Sunday School. They probably teach that in the advanced class that comes long after I dropped out.

25. C-Streeters and their sheeple do not need the bible...
There is nothing in any delusional religion that is quite as delusional as the teachings of Coe and the douchebags in "the Family"...the fact that ordinary citizens are so blind that they cannot recognize when they are being abused and used (once again) as a political tool of the right wing is truly sad.

The people who sit in the pews and churches that espouse this tripe are the ones who we should pity. The fact that their chosen "leaders" would lie to them and manipulate them for financial gain of a few is truly sad.

27. I'm well beyond pitying these people
The information these people need to free themselves from these lies is readily available and, I guarantee, the vast majority of these sheep have been exposed to it in some form or another. That they choose to remain deaf, dumb and blind to that which is obvious to critically thinking beings is not something I can any longer have compassion and empathy for. Unless and until they free themselves from their own bondage, they are complicit opposition in the fight I choose to fight.

26. Coconut oil will improve your immune system and....
OK, so the FDA (claiming the health references made coconut oil a drug) stepped in and threatened the website with prosecution if they didn't take down references to "health claims" about coconut oil. I don't know anything about coconut oil but I doubt using it will injure me. But if anyone wants to claim health benefits for any drug and CLAIMING BENEFITS CAUSES THEM TO BECOME A DRUG, they have to go through a long and costly process to "prove" their claims and also prove their product does more good than harm. Except tobacco, which (apparently) has a death clause exception.

Now lets look at religion. The belief in and following of the principles, thought and mandates espoused by so many "Reverends" would it seems to me to be of or at least as much importance to the American people as, well, coconut oil. But that anyone can claim or have bestowed on them this very powerful and in the case of the Pope all powerful, "Reverendship" it would seem to me that the FDA or some like minded government agency would require proof of their god especially because so often it is used as a healer and the worship and prayer of, and especially when done through, the auspicious of and by giving cash to, said "Reverend" to purchase the healing good works of the deity in question.

I just mention this because my guess is that one or both of the "leaders" mentioned in this article are "Reverends" and as such should be licensed and regulated at least as much as coconut oil salesperson.
