HOw to knock a Trillion dollars off the Health Care Reform bill - eliminate subsidies to insurers.
Edited on Mon Aug-17-09 06:16 PM by JohnWxy
the whole cost of the Health care reform bills is the Exchange Subsidies. this is to reimbuse private insurers the amount which the uninsured cannot pay for premiums.

Now, WHY SHOULD WE BE SUBSIDIZING THE INSURANCE COMPANIES, if they can't make a profit on some people. We should just offer the people a public insurance option along with privat options with no subsidies for the private plans.

WE JUST BAILED OUT A BUNCH OF BANKS ON WALL STREET - YOU SAW HOW GOOD THAT WENT. WHY SHOULD WE SPEND MONEY PAYING INSURANCE COMPANIES SO THEY CAN MAKE MORE PROFITS? FUCK THAT IDEA. WITHOUT THE TRILLION DOLLARS IN EXCHANGE SUBSIDIES THE COST OF HEALTH CARE REFORM DROPS ABOUT ... A TRILLION DOLLARS!

1. WHAAAAAAAAAAAAT? The Invisible Hand of the Free Market doesn't take care of them well enough?
I thought if they couldn't survive in the market, they were supposed to go out of business, or something. Anyone ever see that happen?

5. Actually, to be fair the savings would be about $170 Billion the amount of extra G&A and profit that
we wouldn't be paying the private insurers for. But, $170 billion dollars can add up. If the Republicans really wanted to save money they'd be all for this. They should be cheering for this approach. A public option but NO subsidies to the private insurers. Why should we give them money to be lees efficient AND for their profits?

6. Money gets legislated into insurance coffers because
a certain portion gets kicked back in bribes disguised as campaign contributions.

7. Good idea
Its all just a costly bribe to get insurance companies to take people with pre-existing conditions. Not a good deal. Let government deal with the tough cases and the insurance companies can go fend for themselves.
